R.I.P John Paul Stevens
He was Republican, but not partisan.

For example, he called for repealing the 2nd Amendment.

He was appointed to the district court by Nixon, SC by Ford. He changed over time on the death penalty and had what are considered liberal leanings today on abortion, segregation, trials for prisoners at Guantanamo, critical of the Citizens United decision. His take was the court moved right while he stood still.

Good man and well respected.
