IDK, its possible, but like I said above, he is not the top guy in Sina Loa anymore (and hasnt been for awhile actually), so Im not sure he still has 'access' to those cartel fringe benefits, I guess that would be up to the new leader of the cartel, whether they are going to expend resources to help him or not.

Im not even sure hes that weathy anymore either, it was implied he had LOTS of money at one time, but that was when he was running Sina Loa, so he had access to all their money and power, now, he is just a normal guy for the most part.

I didn't read the article to see, but if they send him to the Colorado one he'll never get out.

I wish that theyd just let this guy earn a living. He has suffered enough.

El Chapo is expected to be sent to ADX Florence, the toughest federal supermax prison in the country. Here is a link to an article about that, followed by the Wikipedia article on the ADG Florence supermax.

El Chapo Gets Life Sentence For Moving "Mountains Of Cocaine"; Likely Headed To Colorado 'Supermax'

ADX Florence

The Wikipedia article lists some of the other inmates incarcerated at ADX Florence. They include Zacarious Moussaoui, Ted Kazinski, Terry Nichols, Robert Hansen, and a who's who of many of the nastiest terrorists and criminals that our country has seen over the last 30 years.

That's where he's going. And since 1994, the year it opened, no one has ever escaped.

El Chapo will be joining quite a few of our most notorious criminals, and he will be far from the only mastermind in the Supermax in Florence, Colorado. He will be joining Ted Grazinsky, several mastermind American spies, and a lot of other guys who are both real smart and very highly educated. (Along with a bunch of other guys who are expert escape artists, and/or extremely violent, and/or all of the above.)

I read up on the prison today earlier, and learned some pretty amazing things.
A few: The staff ratio is almost 1 guard for every 2 prisoners. The guards never have any direct contact with the prisoners until they are handcuffed, shackled, and belly-chained.

Once inside, the prison is constructed so a prisoner never knows where he is. He never gets to speak to any others in his block, as all cells are soundproofed. Every door is a double, with a barred door inside the outer sound-proof steel door. Each has it's own set of remote electrically-controlled locks.

There is one 4" wide window in each cell, angled so that the sky cannot be seen. Each prisoner is confined to his cell 23 out of 24 hours. The single hour of exercise is either in a steel-walled room outside, with a small view of the sky, or an empty room inside. The choice of space is random.

The staff is constantly rotated, very well paid, and they never know who will be in the same cell in the next rotation. All the cells are identical, so there's no way the prisoners know where they are from inside, and no way the staff knows where the prisoners will be the next time they're on duty.

Unless there is some reason to speak to a prisoner, the staff doesn't even talk to them. The inner barred door is opened at meal times for just long enough for the prisoner to take the tray in the slot in the outer door. If the prisoner stays next to the outer door, he's there for the next 23 hours.

The lights come on and go off on a strict schedule. There's a small shower in every cell, and the water comes on in it once a day for only a few minutes. Each cell has a combination sink, water fountain and toilet, and the toilet doesn't hold enough water in the small bowl to drown one's self in.

All the furnishings- a bed, 2 shelves, one small desk and a stool, are made or cast concrete that cannot be torn loose. The bed is covered with a thin mattress, and the prisoners are allowed no personal effects in the cells. If they are on good behavior, over time they will be given a small TV to watch, but the TV is restricted to only religious, educational, and language instruction channels.

They aren't allowed visitors except for their lawyers. No phone calls.

The prison was designed to hold only the most dangerous people in the federal prison system. They are either the greatest hazard to society or the greatest hazard to other inmates. The state prisons may have their own supermax prisons, but Florence only accepts the state prisoners who have escaped a state supermax, and then, only on application from the state. If the feds don't want to take one, they don't.

It sounded like The 7th Circle of Hell to me.

El Chapo is Mexican. He has never set foot in a prison like this before in his life.
For the first time in his life, he will be totally isolated from his crew, his nation, and everything he's ever done before. There's now way his crew can get him out of Florence, and there will never be a way he can devise an escape from the inside. He will never know where he is inside the huge facility, and neither will his crew. And neither will the guards, past only a few days at a time. Bribery won't work. Nothing will work.

He is not ready for the shock, that's for sure.
And in Florence, he will have a very hard time even trying to commit suicide, as by design, everything is as suicide-proof as is humanly possible.

I wondered how El Chapo will spend his time. Since he only has a 3rd grade education, and is only semi-literate at best, I supposed he would spend his time learning how to read, write and speak English, and then learn other things.

Mental activity is about all he will ever have for any kind of activity at all, and I don't think El Chapo is a guy who would suicide.

One thing is for sure; none of us will ever know anything more about him much. Once in Florence, all info stops. There's none coming in and there's none coming out.

You really think justice is served, sending him to this fortress of a prison?

Sounds like its MUCH more expensive to house someone here compared to other prisons too.

The Sina Loa drug cartel is still in operation for Gods sake, they are still sending tons and tons of drugs into the US, their operations were not impacted at all by his arrest and conviction. LOL
