Don't need a filibuster proof majority with Mitch McConnell controlling the vote. Immigration reform was indeed doable. Mitch dictates what does and doesn't get a vote. Trump threatens and the feckless fall in lock step lest they risk not being re-elected.

Jump in your way back machine when Obama was dealing with over 52,000 unaccompanied minors and 39,000 adults with children crossing over from the central American triangle. Obama asked Congress for comprehensive immigration reform, and at the time, it was Republican controlled. Crickets. Obama built more detention centers and put up a wall. Did it stop? Nope. Why do you think we've gone without comprehensive immigration reform? All Trump is doing about it is using it as a political football. Throwing red meat to the base by stoking hate and fear is not solving the problem. Lying about building a wall is not solving the problem. Neither is treating human beings in a cruel and deplorable way. The base is being played like a fiddle and can't see the forest for the tree.

Denmark is dealing with unwanted immigrants by cutting benefits. Chili is dealing with unwanted immigrants by cutting visa's. Neither country needed a wall to solve an internal problem, just as our country needs comprehensive immigration reform. Trump talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk.
