We send them billion$, yet we supposedly can't take care of our own.

Universal healthcare, free abortion, subsidized college tuition! If Israel can do it, and we respect Israel so much, why can't we?

I don't actually agree with giving rich nations like Israel aid.

BUT, the aid we give them is in the "military assistance" category - wherein they take our money and turn around and buy defense equipment from US manufacturers. We then have a strategic ally to share intelligence with in the worst part of the world where everyone else hates us.

For a couple billion dollars, it's not a bad trade-off.

Who is "we"?

Make your own money and keep it/spend it as you see fit.

I admire Israel for their commitment to level the playing field so that all citizens have equal opportunity, not just the rich. Basic human needs like healthcare and education are taken care of.

That said, why can't we offer our own citizens these kinds of things?

Why can't the USA be more like Israel?

LOL!

Well, it is a refreshing change from the oft repeated silliness of, "Why can't the USA be more like <insert European country. Extra points for a Nordic one>".

Translation: We must bribe this entity to rape, rob, and kill on our behalf in order to assure that others may not do the same to us.

Kind of like a perpetual game of chasing your own tail. As long as none of the raping, robbing, and killing happens in my house it's only "collateral damage" to me.

We send billions more to Muslim-majority countries. Why pick on Israel? (And if they're ahead of Muslim countries economically and technically and scientifically and medically, that's largely because Jews place a big emphasis on education.)

Israel has nine million residents. Not 350 million.

This thread is an attempt to discuss the social services provided to Israelis.
