Does everyone in Israel pay into the system?

Itís interesting, reading the responses to the OPís question.
The simple answer seems to be that we, as a country cannot afford it, as if there are no philosophical objections to providing those services.
Why does Israel get so much support, particularly from the right, despite its stance on abortion, etc?
Itís an interesting paradox.

All things being equal, if this country could afford it, would that stop people from referring to doing so as ďsocialism?Ē
Or is it only socialism if the U.S. does it?

Universal healthcare, free abortion, subsidized college tuition! If Israel can do it, and we respect Israel so much, why can't we?
We shouldn't be sending them all that cash but we could do those things you mentioned but we would have to change our systems to accommodate that shift including much higher taxes which is always a problem.

Only a democrat would give out everything free and leave the borders open for whoever wants it. Thatís a first class ticket to the third world
The OP noted that Israel gives its citizens several very important and costly things for free.
Is Israel descending into Third World status?

Liberals hate Israel. If the US became more like Israel, all the libs would commit suicide.

Israel protects itís borders. Probably better than any other country.

Small population and strong border protection VS large population and no border protection.

That was the point that poster was making.

What a silly thing to say.

If the U.S. became more like Israel and adopted the three things that the OP has noted, things, I might add very similar to what Bernie Sanders, among others, has advocated for for years, liberals would be rejoicing across the land.

Abortion should not be tax payer funded. It is murder. Don't have any problems with subsided healthcare and higher education. Should be considered basic needs.

I won't even do the math- but adjusting for population, the amount of $$$ flowing "free" into Israel would seem to be vast.

Of course, we could do it anyway if we had health care costs the same as other advanced countries and didn't spend many trillions extra on the Security State, etc.
Maybe the trillion-dollars of revenue forgone through a tax cut that will largely go towards the wealthy would have been a good start to provide more and better social services to American citizens.

Perhaps if the US stop supporting Israel there would be enough money to pay for similar programs in the US.

For about as long as it takes me to write this sentence.

Then what is the plan to pay for the rest of the year?
