Yes, absolutely, free speech. The President of the United States is permitted to exercise his right to express his racist, xenophobic and misogynistic views, no matter how obscene, dangerous and antithetical to America's core principles they may be. No matter how many of those "kind", that he wants you to be afraid of, are actually "we the people".
Perhaps you do not understand. The country, of those he attacks, is the United States of America. The 4 women he is assaulting relentlessly are U.S. citizens. Americans, duly elected to the House of Representatives. Their job is to spark discourse and dialogue regarding the policies of our government and to provide differing and opposing views to Congress and America
from their individual neighborhoods in New York, Minnesota, Massachusetts and Michigan. Out of the entire House of Reps, he chose these 4 freshmen congresswomen to go after. Plenty of Democrats in Congress, both senators and reps, have many additional opinions and views as well. So do Republicans. But Trump chose these 4 to run his 2020 campaign around.
Trump telling you that these congresswomen hate America because their policy discussions oppose those of his administration is what is totally wrong.
Trump attacked the 4 women of color, who have diverse ethnicities, for doing their job. He used a longstanding slur against African Americans and other minorities and people who do not look like him and his crowds. The ‘go back’ trope is deeply rooted in the history of racism in the United States. Racist is the proper term to apply to the language he used Sunday and to the chants he encouraged and did not stop, last evening.
What he is doing is not leadership. He has signaled that he wants only to be the president for those that follow along with him. His words and actions are divisive when he demands loyalty to himself and tells you that hating any of his policies is the same as hating America. It is the opposite actually.
The right to disagree with the government, even in strong terms, is one of the most cherished of American values. Telling you that lack of admiration for one particular president, his administration and or his policies is equal to disrespect for the United States violates our nation's founding principles. It is dishonest and disingenuous to slander fellow public servants, fellow Americans with this LIE. That is wrong!
I don't believe I have heard a Democrat leader, "suggest much worse" as you opine. And once again, Donald Trump is the President of the UNITED States. He failed at his job this week-end and he is continuing to fail America by his ongoing use of misinformation, and hate filled ugly words.
We saw Republicans embrace hate and him, last night. He proudly displayed his white-supremacist racial views, and drew a big bold line between his followers and the rest of the country. The President of the United States again highlighted the division he creates and propagates. He once again used the presidential bully pulpit to spread hate and misinformation. This was unabashed racism utilized to stir his base and to express his genuine bigotry and give them a platform to express theirs.
This is not the America I know. Is it the America you desire?
The 4 congresswomen Trump attacks are better Americans than he. Shame on the President of the United States!
Shame! Shame! Shame!
