Why bother with an impeachment that won't get past the Senate? While Republicans were happy with the grandstanding that happened with Pres. Clinton, Democrats are far more pragmatic, and their voters far more educated.
Smart move on the part of Democrats.
good question - some in the House probably want to go back to their constituents showing they held him accountable - there are a number of them are rearing to go......this past vote had to do with his racism, not his obstruction/campaign finance, etc.
They voted to table it for now. Mueller Mueller will be discussing 10 distinct courses of conduct by Trump that could constitute obstruction of justice (They’re strong enough that over 1,000 former federal prosecutors signed a letter stating that Trump would be indicted if he were not president).
After Mueller, Mueller, the House will re-assess.
In any case, if Trump loses 2020, he's then private citizen Trump and SDNY prosecutors will want to have a word with him.
The vote — 332 to 95, with one lawmaker voting "present" — marked the first time the Democratic-controlled chamber had weighed in on impeachment, an issue that has created a widening schism within the party.
All Republicans joined with 137 Democrats and the lone independent, Justin Amash, to table the resolution.
B-b-but I thought Amash hated Trump and wanted him impeached?? The same ones who said he was a Pelosi democrat even though he voted with Trump 92% of the time this year is the same demented thought process.
Wow really? He didn't want Trump impeached over his garbage because lo and behold REASONS MATTER. And anyone who has followed Amash and cares about the truth knows this about him.
Cooler heads don't want articles of impeachment unless there is a chance of it succeeding.
Stay tuned. Just because they voted that way once doesn't mean it will happen that way next time.
It'll be interesting to see what the folks have planned with subpoenas of the Trump clan when their break is all done. Maybe they can do like McCarthy said he did w/ Clinton and the Benghazi grilling. DEM House could do the same w/ Trump's circle ----keep it in the news and on the voter's minds.

Clinton lied under oath and bombed Iraq for 4 days to cover up his shenanigans.
