In spaceships designed for men, a woman's tootsies will get cold.

Quote:
...everything in space carries the legacy of Apollo. It was designed by men, for men.

NASA took pride in advertising the space shuttle as being a shirt-sleeve environment. And yet, if you watch “The Dream Is Alive,” a 1985 documentary made by crews aboard the shuttles, take note of the thick wool slippers on Kathryn Sullivan’s feet.
Women are asked to compromise about seemingly small things in order to participate. Every time we do that, we carry those imprints forward into the future.

The project to land on the Moon in 2024 is named Artemis. In mythology, Artemis is the twin sister of Apollo. The next American to walk on the Moon will be a woman and with many qualified female astronauts there are plenty to choose from.

NASA engineers thought sally r8$3 would need 100 tampons. For a week. If men are so woefully ignorant about basic human biology of the opposite sex, than yes we need more women working on the designs so these instances of ignorance are not built into the mission.

A woman or someone who identifies as being a woman?

It's good that you qualified your prediction with "the next American" though. The next person to walk on the moon will likely be a man from China or India. I'm not convinced America will ever get there again. I'll have to see it to believe it.

These people are ridiculous. So she complains because a capsule full of metal and manufactured air isn’t warm enough for the women astronauts to not wear socks? I can guarantee a woman like Katherine Sullivan would never make that complaint, but she’s contributed far more to women’s accomplishments than the author at the NYT ever will.

Get over being offended by everything. It’s like they’re paranoid schizophrenics thinking everyone is out to get them, every situation is a plot to keep them down. I think they are making the feminist movement look more and more like a joke.

So she is saying that women are inferior and are a detriment to the Space Program due to SPECIAL NEEDS?

Oh my god, the ignorance of not knowing how many tampons it might take in space for a woman! That guy who helped launch rockets into space is a real dunce huh? Fire him and hire someone who knows how many tampons women are going to need.

First of all, maybe you are unaware but this was the engineer in charge of designing their personal kits. Not rockets, not the space shuttle itself, not anything mechanical, just the materials to go in the space shuttle itself.

Second, one would expect any well educated person whose job it is to understand what personal needs an astronaut has, to either have a basic understanding of human biology or be able to find out.

Finally, the fact that you think adding a woman or someone who can figure out what basic needs women have, would be unqualified for the rest of their job is extremely telling.
