Im sure that he was as well. It was wrong then and it is wrong now.

Republicans always talk about how much they admire and respect MLK...

MLK who was critical of America
MLK who thought racism was the core of America and White Americans
MLK who thought entire institutions of America should be brought down
MLK who was an avid Socialist and saw it as the fundamental change America needed to make

Soooo... MLK should have GTFO, right?
Big Difference.

MLK didn't hate the United States. He didn't call 1/2 of America racist.

Shame on you for equating MLK to the ilk of Omar.

Then why did you start a thread talking about the 60's??

Comparing Ilian Omar to MLK is perhaps the greatest insult to MLK's memory in modern times. It's about as offensive as the "Squad" comparing Israel to the Nazis.

You nailed it!!!

Stop using the Jewish people as a human shield and get your own people. You know, the people chanting "The Jews will not replace us" and making our synagogues unsafe. I'm much more concerned about them than women who critique Israel's government and policies - arguments that many in the Jewish diaspora agree with.

You could easily insert "trump" where you wrote Omar. He and his base has called half the US Racist, and worse. He definitely either hates the US, or doesn't understand what we stand for. he should GTFO.

They claimed he was a communist and hated America, the FBI even wiretapped him because he was undermining America. Much more powerful person than a first person congresswoman, this is way out of proportion for political reasons. If you were black, Puerto Rican or earlier on Irish or Italian you heard the term go back to where you came from plenty.

The so-called "Squad" are neither the first nor the last despicable characters to walk through the halls of Congress.

Do I want them to leave? Can't say I would be sad, but that is up to the folks who elected them.

Rather, I would like them to tone it down, behave a little better, respect the system and the institution to which they have been elected, serve their constituents well, and most of all, stop behaving like a pack of teenagers on social media. They and the fat buffoon in the White House are turning this country into a circus.

Having said that, what MLK has to do with an airhead from the Bronx and a Jew-hating twit from Minnesota is a mystery to me.

It's almost certain he was told that quite frequently since that has been a racist insult since long before his time and racial tensions were very high during his time.
