This weekend, Americans will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, an event widely considered to be a pinnacle of human achievement, let alone American ingenuity. So, of course, it falls to the flagships of establishment journalism to complain about how white men dominated the program.
The Left Dumps On Apollo 11 As A White, Male Enterprise

(personally I'm appalled that these people would take a defining moment in human history, a moment when everyone in the world stopped what they were doing to watch the marvel of a human walking on the Moon, and turn it into something negative. if anything, we need more moments like this when we can forget our divisions and focus on our similarities)
Did you also see their op-ed about how the Soviets won the space race because they put a woman in space years before we did? It read like an article in Pravda.

Back then the USA was 90% White non Hispanic. Of course the space program mostly employed Whites.

Here is a great article by a Soviet born conservative columnist about the Times attack on NASA while praising the diversity of the Soviet space program.

So what, exactly, about that Washington Post Tweet is untrue? What about that Tweet is opinion and not fact?

The Apollo missions were intense; NASA employees spent long hours, weeks, months, and years preparing for and executing space flight to prepare for the moon landing, which inherently makes the work family un-friendly.

The NASA engineers you saw on camera at Mission Control were largely white, and were largely male. Females and people of color were rare in engineering and other tech professions in the 1960s. Plenty of retired NASA employees who are female and/or minority have talked about NASA's culture back then.

The Federalist is, as usual, offering nothing but knee-jerk pot stirring by ignoring facts and without attempting to delve deeper into it can't or won't understand. And also as usual, it is hoping that people like the OP don't bother to read and digest its willful misrepresentation of fact.
The point is that itís crap to bring up all this stuff on the anniversary of such a life-changing event because they were products of their time. This should be the one thing the entire country could celebrate together, and they had to throw this malignant shade at it instead.

Indeed. Itís truly perverse to look back at such a stellar event with nothing but negativity.

The greatness of Apollo 11 outweighs by 1000% anything critical or negative that one can liken it to today.

I’m out of free NYT articles, but if you want you can google “How the Soviets Won the Space Race for Equality.”

It’s ridiculous because it just talks about the Soviets having some woman log hours or days in earth’s orbit. She didn’t have a thing to do with the science that got them there, and we don’t even know if she wanted to do it or was forced to by her totalitarian government. But diversity, yeah!

Oh, bullcrap. First of all, when is a better time to talk about the gains women and minorities have made in technical careers, and what women and minorities experienced when working at NASA, and how they contributed to the space missions?

Secondly, pointing out the facts is not "throwing malignant" anything. Your post is just another knee jerk reaction instead of truly trying to understand the articles in question and relating them to yesterday and today.

The Moon landings were neither racist, nor sexist. It was reprehensible of WaPo and the NYT to take even that event, and turn it into something for the deranged who apparently hate everything.
