Is the McDonald's minimum wage burger flipper of 2019 really that much more productive than the McDonald's minimum wage burger flipper of 1960?

Conservative here, responding...

The reports are that Bernie's campaign workers are DEMANDING $15 per hour. (https://news.yahoo.com/sanders-campa...132556855.html) (https://www.providencejournal.com/ne...for-us-workers)

Why would they be DEMANDING $15 an hours if they're already being PAID $15 an hour?

Have to ask them the story isn’t very clear. The media tends to be jaded on both sides.

Absolutely not. McD's was my first job back in 1975.
There was no automated cashiering. I had to remember what they ordered and do all the math in my head for change.
Also all the drinks were behind the counter.
Shakes had to be made from scratch and the apple/cherry pies had to be fried.
Coffee had to be made the old fashioned way as well..multiple coffee pots brewing.

Well it is clear, they are working up 60 hours per week, but on salary that reduces their effective hourly rate to $13. They are demanding to be paid at least $15ph for all hours worked.

Bernie's response is to limit the hours they work. Bernie has discovered economics.

He could just as well let them work 60 hours... do you believe any other campaign will let their staff work LESS? They want to win... so if their lowly staff has to work 16 hour days.. let them. I would be surprised if there is ANY campaign in US history that cared how much people worked on their campaign.

Bernie wants US workers to get a fair salary while working SANE hours.. so, he lets them work 40 hours on principal and hope people will understand he actually means it when he says he wants US workers to have more rights and higher salary.

Because some were worked more than 40 hours a week, which Bernie was not aware of. The deal was always that they would get a minimum of $36 000 in annual salary and work standard hours, not work grueling hours.

So Bernie is telling the managers to stop with any unpaid overtime, or as the media would tell you "cutting their hours".
