The US has more influence than most countries in Washington, however the Trump administration doesn't tend to listen to anyone, which is why I would negotiate if I were Iran, as the alternative could be the destruction of a lot of Iranian military capabilities and infrastructure by US weapons.

It's also not very wide to goad or provoke Trump and his administration as they are known for being unpredictable, and John Bolton Trump's National Security Advisor is often quite pro-war.

Iran might not like the US decision however it's current actions are the equivalent of poking a big dog with a stick, and Iran may yet get bitten.

Nah, Iran is right. Iranians are not cowards that let themselves get oppressed by fascist psychopaths. And if there were a war, it would backfire on the US as everyone knows by now it was provoked by the US.

Thanks for confirming the real intentions of Iran. If you think they should have nukes, imagine what they are thinking.

Why shouldn't they have nukes as a deterrent? Rogue states like Pakistan and Israel have them, but never used them. That's the whole point of deterring, it is a mutual thing. The point is not to use them because everyone has a lot to lose.

I think all countries should abandon the non-proliferation treaty and develop nukes if they want to. It's only fair...

And for the time being, Iran should heavily arm its tankers, or maybe have them escorted by Russian war ships. Or Iran should get a few of those massive, fast Chinese conventional missiles where one hit enough to sink an aircraft carrier.

Good Luck with that.

The US could take Iran's infrastructure out and detroy the Iranian military in a few hours.

You are taking about a nation that spends $700 Billion a year on defence and accounts for nearly half the defence spending in the world.

As soon as Iranian civilians die, the world will turn against the US. Most of the world already hates the US anyway...
I sure am on Iran's side.

The US could take out infrastructure without even touching most of the civilian population.

I akso doubt the world will turn against the US, given the current actions of Iran, who seem to be provoking such a response.

Not at all, they merely respond. Nobody believes Iran shot down the drone, nor does anyone care, it was just a ****ing piece of metal. The supposed tanker attacks are also more than suspicious. And everybody knows the EU is betraying Iran.

What do you think would happen if Iran shut down the Strait of Hormuz, which would drastically reduce the amount of crude oil available on the international market? Prices at the pump here in the US would soar. Iím all for our Navy protecting commercial vessels from pirates or any other threats. Like Waldo said, that is why our Navy was created in the first place (funny enough that Waldo mentioned it because I disagree with that poster far more often than not).
Now that we are the world's largest oil producer, I kinda look forward to it. Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma economies would be booming. Do you also realize that the strait is the only way Iran is importing goods? Mines can't tell the difference.

Yet it is the EU that's splitting apart. The USA is doing just fine.

But hey, as an American taxpayer, I'm more than happy for the USA to pull out of Nato, close down all our European bases from Western Europe, and let you guys take care of your own defense.
