That's exactly right.

I have two gay buddies (a couple) who moved back from Germany because they no longer felt safe. I can only imagine how the women must feel there.

The obsession with owning guns isn't the same in Germany as it is with conservatives in America. They don't have the Second Amendment there and they don't worship guns. It is a different country with different values. You are attempting to impose your own value system onto another country. This reminds me of my religious right fanatic relative who went to Europe this summer and lectured everyone he came into contact with about how they should own a gun and be like the Americans.
