The unwillingness or inability for both sides to reach across the aisle to work together in the common interests of what is best for the country. It was not too long ago that Republicans and Democrats sought to work together on basic matters. Now working together is out of the question and civility has taken a hit, Many of the issues we are seeing today are symptoms of not working together.

Greed. (Politicians being influenced by "big money" entities.)

The ignorance of the American people, across the parties, across ideologies, across the board. We get the government we deserve. The average American is wholly ignorant of basic civics, American and world history, Western Civilization, literature. Both our dominant parties and ideologies contribute to this problem. The lefties despise Western Civilization and revise history to fit their oppressor vs. oppressed belief system and the righties think education is solely about getting a career.

Which leads into another problem; the two party dominance in this country, where two parties run the show and the rest do not have a chance. No need for party loyalists if you have several parties.

Right now the one main thing I’d point to is the overwhelming imbalance and control democrats have of our country’s culture. They control the majority of media, entertainment, sports, education and social media in this country, so they have an overwhelming out-of-balance influence with their hugely divisive 24/7 race-baiting, character assassinations, anti American anarchy, their free-speech-stifling political correctness, their destruction of America’s borders and sovereignty, their censorship of opposing views, and their pervasive divisiveness.
It is not healthy for any country to have one political ideology with this much influence.

Unfortunately the republicans are too wimpy to deal with it.

I never understood why people don't vote against a big Federal government. The idea is to get your own state to have more control.

Not all people benefit from a small/weak federal government.
