Could economic blockade be involved?

Anyways I'm not for purely socialized medicine, nor am I for private insurance.

Arenít you the one who argues for a return to communities and self sufficiency?

Cuba should produce their own medications.

There is a tiny issue of infrastructure, technology, and available chemicals for the manufacture of medicines.

It is easier said than done.

I've never disregarded trade as a whole, I'm against internal corporate supply chains being managed cross borders in an open market.

Cuba doesn't need to mass produce chemical products to help sustain a healthy society, but with the central government being as ineffective as is, it is hard for them to manage a potential health crisis within their island.

Multiple other nations have socialized medicine, and it is more cost-effective than in the US. Actually, the US has one of the least cost-effective health care systems in the world, and by a massive margin.

This suggests the lack of medication in Cuba is due to other factors.

There is an embargo, not a "blockade."
They are free to trade with the entire rest of the world.
