You don't expect alligators in an amusement park aimed at families and you certainly don't expect a picnic area right beside the water. Disney's own copmmon sense should have told them to fence off the area and stop families from going anywhere near it.

Most tourists in Florida tend to stay in the plush hotels and stay around the beeches and don't expect alligators.

Disney had a previous issue in 1986 (I'm tempted to say) and removed as many alligators as they could. That said, that doesn't mean they didn't removed all and alligators could always enter the property and hide in one of the many lakes. Plus alligators are known to live in Florida swampland, which Disney World is.

The humidity in the summer is brutal. Once I retired from teaching, we decided to go in the fall/winter. The weather is quite nice that time of year.

People go to Disney for many reasons. Certainly, parents with the means may feel an obligation to take their kids. We couldn’t afford it until our kids were teens and we were more established financially. Now we take our grandkids or just go by ourselves as a childless couple.

Reasons we go back include great customer service, top-notch rides, attractions and shows, good restaurants, nice hotels, the nightly entertainment and it’s a wholesome family destination. And, they’re always adding new things to experience.

Disney World is more than just theme parks. They also have boating, fishing and golfing.
