One person I used to work with (I waited tables in college) literally said, "If you make $1,000,000 I can't wait to tax the f*** out of you and take most of it, because you could still live a good life with only $XXX amount."

It's disgusting.

Why even want to go to work and try to achieve success?
On the other hand, a Bernie supporter I know of majored in Botany and started his own landscaping business.

The only people socialism benefits are the poor people who contribute nothing, sorry.

If you are anything but broke you would not want socialism.

It's simple math. 45% of adult Americans pay no taxes.
You're all out WRONG. About everybody has to pay sales taxes. Some people have to pay property taxes. Some people have to pay city income tax. So please quit trying to mislead people. It's very uncool.

Does he pay his employees $15-20 an hour? Does he not take any business write offs? Does he pay the IRS anything beyond the legally lowest amount? Does he share his wealth (if he has any) with his employees?

Oh please, everyone knows what I mean.

I'm talking about straight income taxes you pay the IRS, and you and everyone else knows it. 45% of adult Americans do not pay taxes. Almost half.

And, for the record, I'm not wrong. Here; hell, I'll even give you a CNN article of all "news" outlets:

https://money.cnn.com/2018/05/22/pf/...ner/index.html

That would leave the 40 trillion (that's $40,000,000,000,000) Medicare for all would cost resting on said 55% who pay income tax. And that's just one of the socialists' entitlement programs. I don't get how people don't understand basic math--we can't afford all of this crap! Unless we bankrupt half of America, the 55% who actually do pay taxes, and even then I'm not sure it would be enough.

You honestly think I'm talking about lousy sales tax?

And the 45% who pay no income taxes I doubt the majority own property, so, no, they don't pay property tax. But I wasn't even talking about that, either. I'm so sorry the poor have to pay sales tax, give me a break.

Then your exposure is limited, OP. I know attorneys, IT professionals and others who were/are Bernie supporters.

The party I was invited to was for someone who just got their medical degree and moved to Los Angeles, my sister is now working for a corporate consulting firm in DC, my cousin is going to law school, my other cousin is working in Hollywood after graduating from Columbia, and the rest of my family is filled with doctors and engineers.......
Reminds me of one of my "spy stories" back in 1994. My date had taken me to such a "motivational" lecture of "get rich and leave the little guy behind" (well, that was his sales pitch) and that's not quite the thing I agree with. So I took up the cover story of analyzing the art in the room.

Is there a point to such? Beware of stupid (My dear, be careful. I don't think he is as stupid as he appears; My dear, no one could be that stupid. (City of Death)) for they may indeed be quite intelligent.

Marianne Williamson or Bernie Sanders can humble a country dedicated to wealth and material development.
We-ll, when there are others out there trying to kill you, kindness is a fool's folly.

My first undergrad, my father and the Navy paid for. With my second undergrad, my work paid half for and I paid the rest. I could have had my work pay for all of it but I wanted to be paying for some of it. Why? It means much more to me, to one, when part of you is in it.

It rather reminds me of one of my classes as an instructor when I was trying to stress to my students that I was there for them, to not be talking, to utilize their spent dollar wisely......and one of my students piped up, "It's not my money!".

When one has the attitude that it is not their money, then it is much easier to waste it.

Do such people live in cities for it sounds like the minimalist lifestyle and living out in the country, I find that certainly is not the way to go.

You sound like me, two jobs, where the second one is being a diver, which is my fun job. Is that the story for you?

Hmmmmm, A and B.
A: Recently I came across the fisherman and the industrialist.

(everything before Ka-ching!)
That's sort of like me, at a job that pays my expenses that allows me to live the recreation life I like. Sort of a working playgirl.

B: And then, there's Chuck Brown's Philosophy of Life:

I don't quite have it like that but I can drive around in the country with my windows down and if it is raining, then I know my aquifer is being filled up.
(hmmmmm, Dad had convertibles and they were fun! Maybe I ought to get one or at least a jeep.)

That, plus user fees. Many states and even municipalities have already started the ball rolling on that with toll roads and ambulance/emt and fire department call/response fees, respectively. The concept of user fees needs to expand WAY beyond that.

Given the fact that those who earn less than $30,000/year skew Dem by about 2 to 1, Dems are least likely to pay federal income tax. Federal income tax revenue is needed to pay for all the Dem candidates' pie in the sky socialist programs.

So, yes, this is all nothing but a: "We want this, so YOU have to pay for it" scam.

People have differing opinions re what is required for a society, how those requirements should be paid for, and who should pay for them.

Some people choose to live in TN, some in TX, and some in CA, etc.
