Not only rising property taxes but also rent for those who don't own a home, it will increase suffering of the poorest in Chicago.

Some fools once said that it would increase homeowners HEL (equity loan) which is embarassing as that would just trap them under more mortgage and debt that will follow and control them for the rest of their lives.

If Obama cares about these people he will move his library or cancel it all together (it is a pretty imperial/bourgeoisie concept for any president).

Not an actual problem to those who will suffer?

Well its an actual problem because the president who supposedly cares about these people can stop it. That is why I'm asking him to move his library to high priced locations like Hawaii or NY, or not to make it at all.

The ball is in his park, we'll see what he does.

And I'm not a repub, maybe that's why I care.

That was predicted way back when it was first announced.
People voiced concern but...it was Obama so they all shut up.

It is beyond why Obama holds such passionate loyalty from people he robs blind.

And by the way - it will be, and it won't be a library.

It won't be a library...

The Obama Presidential Library That Isn’t

The four-building, 19-acre “working center for citizenship,” set to be built in a public park on the South Side of Chicago, will include a 235-foot-high “museum tower,” a two-story event space, an athletic center, a recording studio, a winter garden, even a sledding hill.

But the center, which will cost an estimated $500 million, will also differ from the complexes built by Barack Obama’s predecessors in another way: It won’t actually be a presidential library.

In a break with precedent, there will be no research library on site, and none of Mr. Obama’s official presidential records. Instead, the Obama Foundation will pay to digitize the roughly 30 million pages of unclassified paper records from the administration so they can be made available online.

It will be a library...

Susan Rice Unmasking Docs Locked For Five Years

They got a FOIA request for the unmasking docs, and they basically put them in the library which stalls the release for 5 years.

Information regarding the unmasking of Trump campaign and transition members by former President Barack Obama's national security adviser, Susan Rice, is stored at the Obama Library — and will be under lock-and-key for five years, a watchdog group said Monday.

...
The NSC told Judicial Watch it won't hand over the unmasking records, nor any intelligence community information about Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election, Judicial Watch reported.

With Obama era holdovers in the NSC, is this surprising?

So they call use it as a library for protection purposes... but functionally, it won't be a library. Right now - there is an official functional library somewhere in Hoffman Estates, IL. Might be someone's house for all I know.

It will cost a bunch of money.

June 2019...

Judge: Obama Center Construction Can Move Forward in Chicago

Plans to build Barack Obama’s $500 million presidential center on Chicago’s lakefront can move forward, a federal judge said Tuesday in dismissing an advocacy group’s lawsuit objecting to the use of historic public parkland.

...
Protect Our Parks’ lawsuit, along with a federal review, has halted progress on the planned state-of-the-art museum and library that was supposed to open in 2021 in Jackson Park. The 500-acre park along Lake Michigan is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Among other things, Protect Our Parks argued the city illegally transferred land for the park to The Obama Foundation, a private entity overseeing construction of the center. In court, Protect Our Parks attorney Mark Roth accused the city of allowing a “massive giveaway” to the foundation and questioned the public benefit.

...
Meanwhile, lawyers for the city contended the whole museum was a public benefit itself, along with plans to maintain the park grounds. City attorneys have also accused the parks group of misreading the law and misrepresenting how the land approval works.

I hate this.

I hate the fact that they're building Obama's library on public land.

I hate the fact that they're getting away with it.

You can never get land back. Ugh.

Son of a beeyotch.

It should be built at Martha’s Vineyard.
