Throwing the ball hard at people is part of the game, isn’t it? How do you get charged for something like that?

Even if he was trying to be “mean”, he’s TEN.

This is just strange.

It's an upside down world now.

We played dodge ball a lot in gym, and everyone had fun. Even the nerdy kids, because they got to stick it to the cool kids. I never remember anyone being upset, or holding a grudge. It was one of the few times in gym, and school in general that I remember everyone laughing together.

Not strange, racist. This is racial targeting of black children. Some people on Twitter said so. Yahoo News Lifestyle wants you to know that and be appropriately angry about Trump's racist America.

Did they suspend the kid that got hit and everyone else was playing because it was unsanctioned? If not, they should. That's what you do in dodgeball. You intentionally hit people with a ball, like duh.

Sounds like the mother should be charged with child negligence...

Sounds like kids got a little out of hand and weren't being supervised properly. So the school district shifts the blame away from themselves and makes the kids at fault.
The kid that got hurt, his name wasn't "Winston" by any chance?

This is dead wrong, although there is more to it. I read that, according to the police report, it was a game similar to dodgeball but not quite. The fragile kid overthrew the ball and the 10 yr old threw the ball at him because he was upset. Either way, children do things like that and this wasn’t the first time this happened to the fragile kid.

The fragile kid’s parents and the school are to blame. Why continue to involve the child in these activities when the child can be so easily injured?

Disgusting that they are trying to label this child as a criminal just for being a child.

Kind of sounds like a game we called suicide in the mid to late 80's as little kids.

Teachers eventually made us call it safe or wall ball.

It was played with a raquetball or tennis ball.

I agree and find this case disturbing. Based on the information provided, it is just plain wrong to charge this ten year old boy. Why give this kid a juvenile record for something children do every day? IMO, the mother of the “fragile” boy was negligent. If the boy being charged was too rough, sit him down and have a discussion with him. When I read about crap like this I am so glad I grew up when I did.
