"An emergency proclamation issued Thursday in Stillwater, Oklahoma, requiring the use of face masks in stores and restaurants was amended Friday after threats of violence.

"In the short time beginning on May 1, 2020, that face coverings have been required for entry into stores/restaurants, store employees have been threatened with physical violence and showered with verbal abuse," Stillwater City Manager Norman McNickle said in a statement.
"In addition, there has been one threat of violence using a firearm."

I don't care what you think about the seriousness of Covid, giving in to customers' threats of violence against employees is absurd!
People abide by "no shirt, no shoes, no service" all the time, recognizing that entry into a store half dressed is not an inalienable right. Requiring a mask to enter public places during this pandemic is a completely reasonable action. It is a good step, allowing stores to reopen while hopefully minimizing the spread of Corona virus. And even if you don't believe the masks help, either suck up and wear one anyway, or don't go into stores. Who are the snowflakes now?!?

It's interesting. If you go to Stillwater you will find orange everywhere. Could be part of that liberation thing. Hmmm??

Last year when the police officer and not the doctor was in charge of the general safety the debate would have been banning mask in public so that biometric data could be had to stop rapist, thieves and anarchist vandals. With support from those fighting cultures who they saw forcing women behind mask in an attempt to dehumanize them.

So now assuming a vaccine is as elusive as a vaccine for the common cold for the entirety of humanity, are we all to be dehumanized to survive in a world where the face, and fingerprints of criminals are no longer available to proof guilt beyond a reasonable doubt?

We will all die and disease is a natural cause. We are doing a lot to mostly extend the life of people in hospices that we call nursing homes and senior citizen centers.

As a retail manager, let me assure you that people definitely do NOT abide by the “no shirt, no shoes, no service†policy “all the timeâ€. I’ve lost count of the number of customers I have had to refuse service to because they refused to put a shirt on.

Further, the government has absolutely no authority to require the citizenry to wear masks. The most the government can legally do is recommend the wearing of masks for public safety.

A bunch of people in an Austin park shoved a park ranger into a lake when he asked them to social distance.

And without a doubt the 'freedom lovers' will cheer on these threats and acts of utterly senseless violence.

If it were any other situation but that involving requirement in regards to COVID-19, these same people would then be lecturing people, sorry but rules are rules, no shirt no shoes no service, don't like it tough don't patronize the business, what's so hard about listening to and complying with police, etc. etc. etc.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

Sad to see that employees were on the receiving end of the backlash. It should have been the petty little elected officials exercising their new-found power.

I watched a video where a poor guy tried to enter a Target store without a mask, despite his having a doctor's authorization exempting him from having to wear one due to health reasons. Nope, they strong armed him and forced him to leave with an armed security guard physically touching him. Never asked to see the doctor's paper, just ordered him from the building. Real fascists. So that's the other end of the spectrum.
This is going to end very soon. People won't put up with being pushed around. They already swarm grocery stores where social distancing isn't enforced, so it's just a matter of time until people take their country back and make America free again.

Reminds me of when the "law and order" types were chest thumping about how how environmental protesters should be arrested for slowing down commutes by blocking regular streets.

But when "screw the orders, reopen everything right now" protesters block HOSPITAL entrances of all things? Apparently aok.
