This crap happens, when you are PROPERTY of the state.
Let me guess, a Democrat controlled city council.
In the town I grew up in a woman was constantly getting fined for feeding the birds. Neighbors complained about the mess. It was a very republican town

Too many people feed them bread too, which can kill them.
Here you can't feed the geese at the town lake because of the mess. Bird feces also can carry disease.
My daughter has been feeding "ferals" for about 10 years now. Multiple litters from same mother. Over the years the numbers have dwindled; female kittens first to disappear. She has trapped, neutered/spayed, and vaccinated them all. Mom cat was the last she got, but she disappeared about 2 years ago. NO new cats coming to be fed. I guess when there only neutered males around, there won't be more litters?
Don't go to her house very often, but one (named Stripe) of the 10 year first litter males will jump into my lap if I sit down outside. Call that Feral? When they know they are getting fed twice a day, I suppose they get lazy and don't look to kill birds.
Cats are not native anywhere in America. When feral they are an invading species. They do what all successful invading species do - they kill off all the indigenous species they can get their paws on. They often don't go after the adults, they kill the babies. That's squirrels, opossums, hedge hogs, birds, everything.
The problem with these assumed, "do-gooders" is that they leave a mess of bowls, plastic containers and foil containers where they feed the cats, making an eyesore of your neighborhood, and attracting rats. They don't keep feeding the cats for many reasons. Once they stop, the cats turn to the native animals for a food source.
The Brits did a study of the environmental damage caused by feral cats. The results were nearly unbelievable. Google it and educate yourself.
I'm all for harsh punishment for these ignorant people. No matter what you tell them they just won't stop. Good riddance this idiot is in jail. May all like her follow her there.
Baloney, cats have been here as long as we have. They were kept on sailing ships to protect food supplies from rodents, and used for the same purpose on farms.
Consequently, cats have provided great value to humans in the form of protecting food supplies and reduction of disease carrying rodents.
But championing the incarceration of little old ladies for the high crime of feeding kitties is just another example of self destructive liberal lunacy, intolerance, and ignorance.
I used to worry about the birds at the bird feeder and cats. Now I see each and every day when the cats leave dry food in the dish, the birds eat it.
If any is left at night, the possums get it.
My daughter has a raccoon that eats the cat food. It will come up to her door, beside the cats, and sit there looking to be fed! Kinda like that TV commercial, "Here, Kitty, Kitty". lol
