Because all of society benefits when more people are able to get college degrees, or are able to spend more time in education. The more intelligent society is, the better off we all are.

That is irrelevant to the car mechanic having to pay someone else's bills. Would that college degreed person then pay off the mechanic's house loan? It benefits society for people to be homeowners.

Who is "winning" so far in this debate ?

I think Warren is the most passionate, and is able to concisely communicate her thoughts and plans the best.

Buttigieg is sharp but green--he'll be a stronger contender in a few more years.

None of the others are leaving an impression...
