As I was saying about the lack of adequate internet security among government agencies, court systems, public schools, etc...

Bingo! Government agency. Taxpayers will pay any financial costs of the consequences of this. But the personal costs? LAPD officers and personnel? They're going to be constantly worried that they and their families are sitting duck targets since their personal data including home addresses has been breached.
