Maybe we can give Obama' The Fast And The Furious another try. Arm some Mexican gangs, see what happens.

Compared to the streets of LA, there's a very small amount of mass murders in Nevada compared to just the city of Los Angeles. There's mass shootings weekly in LA and the surrounding suburbs.

Is this where we compare the entirety of one state to the highest-crime area of another state and pretend there's a worthwhile conclusion to draw?

Nevada homicide rate in 2017: 9.1 per 100K residents
California homicide rate in 2107: 4.6 per 100K residents

That's to say nothing of the fact that Nevada had the worst mass shooting in US history just 2 years ago.

Is the username deliberately ironic?

Believe it or not, despite being a (centrist) Democrat, I agree with the NRA on this. It's a mental health issue. We need to get better at detecting guys like that, and flag them in NICS.

The issue with mental illness is that too many people nowadays act exactly like them.

We interrupt this politically motivated post on gun violence and another mass shooting on American soil to bring you another politically motivated post on gun violence and yet another mass shooting on American soil. We didn't solve anything with this post and we won't solve anything with the new post just like another other post on any other mass shooting on American soil. But we got to blame each other and point fingers, not to mention we a got to bloviate some, so it wasn't all for nothing at least.

Sad. It's the end of the USA...because, frankly, no one cares. Here is a great article explaining why it really is the end.....when a nation doesn't care about their kids, their innocents, grandma or their fellows...well, what is left?

https://eand.co/why-were-underestima...e-be04d9e55235

"And that is my last pathology: it is one of the soul, not one of the limbs, like the others above. American appear to be quite happy simply watching one another die, in all the ways above. They just donít appear to be too disturbed, moved, or even affected by the four pathologies above: their kids killing each other, their social bonds collapsing, being powerless to live with dignity,or having to numb the pain of it all away.
If these pathologies happened in any other rich country ó even in most poor ones ó people would be aghast, shocked, and stunned, and certainly moved to make them not happen. But in America, they are, well, not even resigned. They are indifferent, mostly."

There is one little snag with armed citizens and an active shooter. Our final qualifying course of fire in the CCW course I help with here is based on an active shooter situation that happened here. There is one sure fire way to fail the course. Try and engage the "shooter" target. There was a man present at this shooting who was armed. He was scarified by the newsies because he did NOT engage the shooter.

Why? Because he made the absolute right call not to do so. There was no way it could be done without hitting innocents. It was complete pandemonium with people running everywhere. There was zero clear field of fire. So the armed citizen covered his family and got out of there without firing a shot. A very good and proper call.

Being armed in such a situation is not a bad thing, but having a weapon and being able to use it in a proper manner are two different animals. One cardinal rule of shooting is to be SURE of your target. The guy tried very hard to explain this to the newsie types but of course being ignorant and looking for an anti gun owner narrative they ignored him.

I see much the same thing in your post and have seen it so many times before. Trying to engage an active shooter in a crowded place is not going to end well in most cases. Being armed yourself in such a situation does not even mean you're going to be a "hero." Like the poor guy in the case here. Sheesh he would have been crucified if he had tried to engage, and was because he didn't as well.

There is a serious lack of comprehension amongst a lot of people about what being an armed citizen actually means. One must know when NOT to shoot as much or more than actually firing a weapon at an enemy. Just because one may be armed when things go down does not mean you should immediately start shooting yourself. That is not a gimme at all.
