They're winning and the 99% are losing. Thats where the focus should be, and if we dont have the guts to fight to strengthen labor unions and get big money out of politics, nothing will change.
Im not against the rich at all. Personally I think it's bs that they are vilified. I'm part of the 99%. But I am not against the 1% at all. I am against the liberal politicians who use unnamed faceless rich people to get votes from the 99% and in the meantime are cutting deals with those they proclaim to be against!

Defense of the nation. Education of our kids. Infrastruture/roads/air. Paying for police, fire, other programs aimed to protect citizens. One could go on forever discussing the needs of citizens that they can't provide themselves. Who the hell do you think funds all the great things our country has. Our country has evolved greatly from the first settlers how came here and did everything themselves.

But many Americans disagree with these things and the higher taxes that will come with them. So should the rich be paying more in taxes just to provide more funding for things many Americans disagree with? Aren't the rich paying enough taxes to cover our current government services and programs?
The question is a non sequitur.
Government policy favors the rich more than the poor.
From bail outs to QE to protecting their assets overseas with our military to trade with slave labor nations and so on.

A better question to ask is, who would be the bigger loser if the government disbanded.
The homeless and poor would still be homeless and poor but the crony capitalists and rich from wall street would have more to lose.

Because the poor build the infrastructure that enables their businesses to flourish and the poor tend to be the ones going to war to protect the monetary interests of the rich.

The poor don't pay taxes to the federal government at all. In fact, not just the poor - HALF of all Americans don't.

We need an AMT - an alternative minimum tax. Everyone pays $10 a month. As things stand now, that is. If the Dems win and taxpayers have to pay off everyone's student loan debt, provide health care for illegals, pay reparations, give away house downpayments, etc., then the minimum rises to $15 a month. EVERYONE needs skin in the game before they vote for more giveaways.

Capitalism at its core is a construct of compartmentalized parallelism.
The rich reside and embellish with those of like similarities.
The middle class reside and embellish with those of like similarities.
The impoverished class reside and embellish with those of like similarities.
When you try to blend in Equalism monetary issues arise.

The segregation of people, communities and establishments are littered across
our country as a result.

The two billionaires living next door to each harbor no resentment towards another
as they bask in the sun atop their yachts as do the two dirt poor families sharing a
plate of macaroni in a one bedroom apartment.

When you attempt to equalize by blending the haves with the have nots problems arise
and borders are formed. Crimes of sorts arise on the fringes of States ,Cities, towns,
neighborhoods and even along city streets separating the poor, middle class and the rich from one another.
The Data never lies. It could be an unintended physical structure such as a railroad track, a highway,
a body of water or a verbal warning " don't cross over to that side of the street ! " but the fact remains.
Our country has a class system and we, as Americans are given the freedoms to graduate towards attaining success.

You just can't mix vinegar and oil..................

Learn it Live it!

Which rich? Venture capitalists or bust out parasites?
What is rich? 10MM? 100?

Im for Medicare for all. WITH copays and deductibles and paid for by replacing the money currently spent. Until congress is willing to talk about the monopolistic / oligopoly practices of big pharma and big hospitals... which will happen the first of NEVER since that is who they represent.

Yep
When we got in bed with China, the poor in this country were punished with depressing wages while the rich were rewarded. If war ever opens up with China, the poor that were punished will be asked to go die in the fight against China.

The hedgefund managers and corporate tycoons will not be fighting it. They will get rich from the wars they helped create.

I have yet to have anyone explain how progressive taxation is "fair".

Why should any American pay a higher or lower percentage of their income in taxes than any other American?

The only response you'll get is "the rich don't need that much money".

And that's not a valid reason.

When charity becomes compulsory through the force of government, it's no longer charity.

It's theft.

Now.....I'm not so Libertarian on the subject that I think all taxation is theft.....

There's a certain amount of income the government needs to be able to fulfill it's Constitutionally defined functions.

Namely, national defense, border and immigration enforcement and certain infrastructure projects that would be logistically or financially impossible for states or local municipalities to achieve on their own.

But any taxation beyond what is necessary for that is indeed tantamount to theft.

Especially redistributive taxes.
