This is not quite the whole of it. Trump and the GOP took this script because the script WORKS ON DUMB PEOPLE.

If you read Buchwald's list, you can find direct examples of nearly every one of the items in current threads on the first page of this board. History is repeating itself. America has found its New Nixon.

Next stop: Articles of Impeachment.

The difference between Nixon and Trump: Nixon was arguably to the left of Obama, while Trump has arguably been to the right of Reagan.

Nixon advocated a national ban on handguns. He imposed wage and price controls, which I don't think Obama would have dared to do. Under Nixon's watch, federal affirmative action, Amtrak, PBS, and the EPA were all established. Nixon was pro-'fairness doctrine.' Nixon's successor Ford appointed John Paul Stevens, leader of the progressives on the SCOTUS for decades.

Trump, although considered by many Republicans as not a true conservative prior to 2016, has governed to the right of Reagan. Reagan supported the assault weapon ban; Trump does not. Reagan installed an ardent 'school choice' advocate as Ed. Secretary. Reagan never did anything like that. Reagan was an internationalist; Trump is a nationalist and non-interventionist.

A different era. Too much blind partisanship today to impreach. Not unless one party had 67 senators.

What about Mueller? Most of the discourse from the Left lately has been a deflection from the disastrous performance of their Chosen One.

Hopefully everything will come to the same conclusion soon.

This is awesome!!

We can just substitute Watergate for Russiagate, Nixon with Trump, and it comes out EXACTLY the same as the right-wing pundits today.

- What about Chappaquiddick = What about Hillary's email.

- Wait till all the facts come out = We have our own alternative facts.

- Everyone does it = Both sides do it.

- A president can't keep track of everything his staff does = Trump can't keep track of everything his lawyer does.

- The press is blowing the whole thing up = the press is spreading fake news.

- Are you going to believe a rat like John Dean... or POTUS = Are you going to believe a rat like Comey/Dan Coats/John Kelly/Omarosa/Steven Mnuchin/Reince Priebus/Steve Bannon/Rex Tillerson/McMaster/White House lawyer.... or POTUS.

- If you impeach Nixon you get Agnew = If you impeach Trump, you get Pence.

- What about Daniel Ellsberg stealing the Pentagon papers = What about Hillary financing a dossier.

- I'd rather have a crook in the White House than a fool = I'd rather have a crook in the White House than Hillary.

- What's the big deal about finding what your opposition is up to = What's the big deal about colluding with Russia.

- FDR did a lot worse things = Obama did a lot worse things.

- Do you realize what Watergate is doing to the dollar abroad = Do you realize what Russia Collusion is doing to this country.

- Maybe the Committee for the Reelection of the President went a little too far but they were just a bunch of eager kids = Maybe Don Jr, Michael Cohen, Ivanka, and Jared went a little too far; but they were just a bunch of eager kids.
