This is another sad commentary on states that didn't expand Medicaid under the ACA. Rural hospitals are continuing to close in areas that can ill afford them to. I can attest to that problem. My husband had an emergency situation in our little rural town almost a month ago. Prior to a year ago, there was a regional hospital within 10 minutes that could have most likely helped him. However, we had to end up driving into another state to the closest hospital which is half an hour away. Thankfully, he was okay. But I think this is going to be a common occurrence as time goes on.
