Incomes for farmers were stagnant for 30 years. Dairy farmers were lucky if they could break even, let alone pay off any of their immense debt obligations. It was obvious to them that doing the same thing and expecting different results was foolish, so they choose to fight with Trump. Most of them new there would be short term pain before there would be any long term gain.
It's rather distasteful how leftards that don't produce squat are so quick to add insult to injury when it comes to the farmer's situation, but that's leftists for ya. Everything is political fodder when you have nothing of substance to say, no real world policies that are workable, no real solutions to offer for anything. Only more lies and distortions and tearing down hard working, productive American citizens. Remember when democrats stood up for hard working American citizens? Me neither. What a disgrace.
Yes. It’s the Dems fault Trump tweeted about tariffs for weeks and then followed through on them.
The White House recently announced that it would be providing an additional $16 billion in aid to American farmers affected by the trade war between the U.S. and China.
But the problem for American farmers has becomes bigger than something a bailout can fix.
“This trade thing is what’s brought on by the president and it’s really frustrating because he took away all of our markets,” Bob Nuylen, a farmer from North Dakota who grows spring wheat and sunflowers, told Yahoo Finance. “We live in an area where we’re kind of in the middle of nowhere. It costs us a lot of money — over $1 a bushel to get our grain to markets.”
Yet Trump said he loved America farmers. Did Trump lie yet again?.

Let China continue unfair trade practices, dumping steel and aluminum, manipulating their currency, stealing technology and establishing barriers to trade in their markets.
In other words- roll over and die.
China is a monster created by Clinton and ignored by Bush and Obama. Somebody had to do something. It would have been far easier if Bush and Obama had dealt with the problem, but they ignored it.
Now it takes an adult to finally face the problem. Liberals, of course, oppose it.
And the farmers continue to support Trump. I guess they enjoy the taxpayer handouts they're getting.
That is the surprising part. They put their money on a horse they thought would make their lives better, and he turned out to be an ass, not a horse. And yet, some of them still haven't woken up to the fact they were lied to.
More than him just lying to them, part of the problem is that Trump has a very simplistic view of how world economics work and interact. In his inexperienced, uneducated mind, Trump thinks " We will put tariffs on everyone and that will force them to start paying us more for our goods and services, and make them negotiate with us for better deals." He forgets that we are just another country in a whole big world of countries, and many of them can find other sources for their stuff, we do not have a monopoly to hold over their heads.
I just hope the next person who comes into this office is able to turn around some of the real damage he has caused. I would not want to be the person to have to take on that task.

I doubt if any of us on this board really know much about these markets..myself included.
But the farmer quoted grows sunflowers and winter wheat. Here are historical prices of sunflower oil.
Jan 2010 $968 per metric ton
Jan 2011 $1498 per metric ton
Jan 2012 $1210 per metric ton
Jan 2013 $1270 per metric ton
Jan 2014 $920 per metric ton
Jan 2015 $ 870 per metric ton
Jan 2016 $885 per metric ton
Jan 2017 $873 per metric ton
Jan 2018 $806 per metric ton
Current $725 per metric ton
It seems to me there is much more at work here than Trump's trade war. Unless it started in 2011.
Here is a link to a graph for winter wheat prices. https://www.indexmundi.com/commoditi...eat&months=120
It has dropped dramatically since 2012. And had raised dramatically from 2009 to 2012
high in 2012 was $342 per metric ton was 167 per metric ton when Trump became president current is 222 per metric ton.
450 farms have closed so far this year in Wisconsin. So the tariffs have had some effect. Thankfully a lot of the farmers around here in the Driftless Area see through Trumps/Republican lies and vote blue.

They're not going to wake up until they go to the supermarket and bread is $6 a loaf.
Remember when democrats stood up for hard working American citizens? Me neither. What a disgrace.
Remember when the Republican Party claimed to be against socialism, big government protectionism, and bailouts?
