MPowering1!!!! You get sentenced to prison when you are found guilty of something. You do know that don't you?

All blacks are criminals? You are the one who said refraining from crime is NOT an option.

Gotcha.
One last time. Many people are in prison because they couldn't come up with bail for their release - and are still awaiting a hearing. They have not been found guilty of anything because they haven't been to court yet.

https://www.prisonlegalnews.org/news...e-theyre-poor/

In addition to not making bail - there is another segment that never went to trial, but took a plea deal instead because they were told going to trial was only going to mean harsher sentencing. Some of those people are innocent.

The criminal justice system is criminal in itself. Try reading one of the many books on the subject to educate yourself instead of arguing based on ignorance.

Black people commit more violent crimes than whites. A sad fact that folks like you cannot come to terms with. More crimes means more in prison.

As of today, my beloved hometown of DC has seen 98 murders. Not one involved a white person, perp or victim.

Not one.
You do know that if residinghere didn't have money put aside, she and her husband would have been sent to prison and her child taken away, right?

I mean, surely you know the basics since you're arguing so strongly on the topic.

Mass incarceration for one removes the black father out of the household and thus helps and intensify single parenthood problems that plague black neighborhoods. Out here in NYC. I know of boys who became men either killed or sold drugs and go to prison while their father who is still in prison for crimes they have committed 25 to 30 years ago. Also once you get out of prison, it is difficult to obtain a job. The only job one can get out of prison is working as a line cook in a restaurant restaurant, working fast food, or as a beautician. Black academics, pro black conscious community and the conservative, but voting Democrat black pastor solely puts blame on white supremacy. Yes white supremacy is part of the problem, but also black folks need to check thier own some responsibility for their dysfunction as well. Not all the times the white liberal is goign to defend you or give you the pass.

If you dont think mass incarceration of young black men, produces inequality, with single parents, kids growing up without fathers, high drop out rates, poor choice in jobs when freed etc...

All this creates a negative feed back loop that just produces poverty...

And the Republican answer is... No, they are just lazy and want our white welfare money. ALL their fault.

Seems like the FACTS are... the young black population was heavily targeted by polices, that incarcerated them at a MUCH higher rate with higher sentences.

This created almost two generations of lost or broken African American families!!

After finally fighting for and getting Civil Rights Act in 1965ish.. they had 10-15 ok years, before justice reforms cracked down on them with a vengeance!

Then the Republicans are claiming its by choice..

Yeah, the policy of the 'toughest crime bill in history' thanks to Bill Clinton - but you'll never find a Democrat indicting him because of it (other than me).

It’s NOT about the criminals of today, it’s too late for them. It’s all about the children. Get them out of bad households before they leave the hospital when born. Stop letting ignorant, immoral people guide their futures.

But I think that is the wrong way to look at it. If anything increased prosecution moved a lot of crime off the streets and into the prison yards while also increasing potential recruitment to gangs and other criminal enterprises/activities.
Remember that the industrial complexes propagated by the State are in essence, in competition with each other. It's the only time the government allows a somewhat bastardized capitalist paradigm to occur.
