I question PR's ability to function as an Independent nation. The Republicans have destroyed too many of their industry and a lot of things they have to start over if they have to function without US's funding. Not that the US has been generous.

So, they probably will continue as a colony for the long future.

I'd be ok with PR becoming a state if Texas was allowed to split into at least one other state to offset the likely Dem votes gained from PR statehood. Otherwise, no. The imbalance it would create is not something I could support.
