Russia would never allow any sort of US "help", and Trump knows it. Russia played that game too when offered "help" for Cali forest fires , perfectly knowing that US would never allow it.

Trump's tweet is aimed to help "opposition" in Russia, and only them. He could care less about any fires at the other side of the globe.

So it's just a political "bite" statement with no real intent behind it.

His tweet about denying aid to California was particularly irksome considering many of those fires were raging on federal land.

Well, that's a different story.

Those were Russian posters telling you that.

Trump should send Putin a rake.
Maybe he'll send marshmallows. I still recall Trump and Pence handing out Play-Doh to disaster victims and paper towels in Puerto Rico.

The new sanctions stem from legislation passed by Congress overwhelmingly last year and designed to limit Mr. Trump’s ability to lift sanctions already imposed on Russia. Lawmakers in both parties feared that the president would suspend sanctions imposed by President Barack Obama as he pursued warmer relations with Moscow as promised during his campaign and first year in office.

The Trump administration opposed that legislation but quietly acceded to it after it passed with a veto-proof majority. Within that law was a measure requiring the administration to create a list of Russian oligarchs. Lobbying around the creation of the list became intense as Russia’s wealthiest citizens feared punishing sanctions to come.

The Trump administration’s responses to Mr. Putin’s needling have been uneven. Although Congress gave the State Department $120 million in 2016 to counter Russian hacking efforts, the department has so far spent none of it. And Mr. Trump said this week that he wanted American forces to leave Syria soon, an exit that would benefit Iran, Russia and one of its allies, Mr. Assad.
Quote:
Whatever tough policies the White House may have adopted toward Moscow also have to be weighed against Trump's rhetoric, which is consistently friendly to Putin. He suggested inviting Russia to rejoin the G-7, a group Moscow was suspended from following the illegal annexation of Crimea. Trump also congratulated Putin on his suspect re-election victory, despite explicit instructions from his advisers.

"There's a real disconnect between the president's words and the underlying policy," said Richard Fontaine, president of the Center for a New American Security.

While Trump has no qualms about criticizing leaders of allied countries like Germany's Angela Merkel, Canada's Justin Trudeau or the U.K.'s Theresa May, he almost always treats Putin with kid gloves.
So perhaps he's not 100% under Putin's control but the only derangement I see here is pretending that he hasbn't given lots of concessions to Russia in exchange for what? Same thing with North Korea, continuing to repeatedly launch missile tests despite Trump falsely claiming a win on that too.

But thinking about it, I'm realizing that the people who assume all criticism of Trump is "derangement" probably actually believe the things that Trump says, thus the disconnect.

And Trump supporters. Which may be redundant.

But isn't it funny how a Trump supporter will try to use The New York Times and NPR to bolster her argument after telling us for years now that those are fake news sites? They are incapable of seeing how ridiculous they are when they do stuff like this.

But never fear, tomorrow saltine will be back to calling NYT FAKE NEWS!!!!! Until she needs a real news source to bolster her argument again.

I guess it's only conditionally FAKE NEWS! The condition being if it helps or hurts their agenda.

... still, of course, it IS the state's fault that rivers run to the sea. The constitution does not give the Federal government control over that!
