Gov. Gavin Newsom says President Donald Trump has called him and expressed commitment to helping California recover from two earthquakes that hit the state in as many days.

Speaking to reporters after touring the damage zone, Newsom said Saturday that he and Trump talked about the struggles California has been through, including two devastating wildfires that happened just six months ago.

The Democratic governor said “there’s no question we don’t agree on everything, but one area where there’s no politics, where we work extremely well together, is our response to emergencies.”

“He’s committed in the long haul, the long run, to help support the rebuilding efforts,” Newsom said of Trump.

You are citing apples and oranges. What Trump did and what Newsom said after the earthquakes is not the same thing as what Trump said after the fires several months earlier.

This false equivalency was already mentioned and addressed and repeating doesn't change anything - Trump threatened to deny aid to California after the wildfires. That is a factual statement. Whatever he said about earthquake relief doesn't negate his prior statement.

The Governor of Ca disagrees with you. His statement has been posted MANY times.

No, he doesn't because he never said that Trump didn't say what he said in January. The fact that it was subsequently politically expedient to praise Trump because he was providing federal aid after the earthquakes does not magically erase what he said initially after the fires. I know Trump would like to recreate history so it is most favorable to him, but I don't care, I will not let him erase recorded history because it makes him look bad. You can choose to ignore it, but you cannot choose to erase it, facts remain facts even when Trump doesn't like them.

Trump may not get the expected help from Russia in the next election unless he delivers on this, and he is painfully aware of that. Three + years is a long time to wait, and Putin's patience is wearing thin.

Perhaps you haven't heard.

The US sanctions (which Trump has been trying to lift since the very beginning) are at the heart of trade between the USA and Russia. Money can't transfer, the issue of trade is choked by the sanctions.

If money can't transfer, it's harder than hell for the Trump Organization to pay back it's Russian backers, doubly difficult to borrow more money from the Russian mob than before.

It's a big deal.

The unfortunate thing is your statement isn't factually correct! Did those "weak ***es go along with his wall plans?
