And you believe them because?

Remember the Democrats want to place a tax on Americans driving on the road. Why is there a constant double standard here?

Trump's tariffs are sheer lunacy. Tariffs are nothing more than a different form of taxes on the people.

I urge everyone to put off buying anything and everything you can. If you absolutely need it try to buy it used. Perhaps when American sales hit rock bottom the idiots in the White House will strap the chief moron in charge in a wrap-around white jacket.

Including his Trump 2020 banners. Will they be hit by the tariffs too?

According to a Reuters report Wednesday, China’s Jiahao Flag Co. has produced more than 90,000 “Trump 2020: Keep America Great!” banners and flags since March, and the factory has ramped up production before Trump’s threatened tariffs against all Chinese-made goods kick on.

China won't be bullied into remaining number two in the long run.

Don't buy Chinese junk.

No tariffs.

Problem solved.

Wish it was that simple.

Americans need to stop buying stuff...oh wait that would crush the economy.

No win situation.

That view is so outdated. A lot of Chinese products are just as good as Western, Korean or Japanese ones these days.
If I were to buy a smartphone, it would likely be a Huawei, frankly.

The funny thing is that some time ago in a rare moment of sincerity, Trump actually admitted what this is all about, trying to keep China from overtaking the US.

There is a lot of fluidity in technological development the world over (and BTW the USA has the most expensive people). American companies are contracting their engineering to India too (it's not just answering services being shunted over there). The USA is fading, we have ben losing our edge for a while.

We can not become or remain number one in any field we can not compete in. The answer to that is not tariffs. We need to focus on getting our young people well educated (especially in the STEM fields and the trades), and not burden them with decades of debt they will have trouble paying off.

We are a great people, full of promise and unlimited potential, but we have to get this right, and soon, or we will fall behind for good. It's just that simple.
Nailed it.

A few years ago, I was wandering through the math department at a major university. Nearly all the names on the TA's doors were Chinese. I asked why and was told that most American students are way behind Chinese students in math.

Was told that most of the undergraduate students in math and science head into marketing, teaching, etc. after a couple of semesters. They don't have the educational background to keep up with the Chinese students. By graduate school, they have been winnowed down to just a few.

China is our enemy.

In fact, they are basically the enemy of the whole world and that includes the environment itself.
