Afghanistan left in the hands of Islamic fundamentalists will not be good for America.
The alternative in Iraq was permanent occupation with American soldiers being blown up by IEDs on a regular basis. Nobody likes to see foreign soldiers in their streets.

The same will be true 20 years from now if we remain. It's their home, they are not going anywhere. We are the ones that have to leave at some point.

The US invaded Iraq.

Bush Admin agreed to pull out all troops by 12/31/2011. The withdrawal began in 2008. Iraq had no interest in an extension. Withdrawal was completed in accordance with the original agreement.

Guess the US could have ignored the agreement to withdraw and kept troops in country.

The Iraq War cost $6 trillion when interest on debt and VA benefits are factored in- $1 trillion / year.

4424 US troops were killed and 32,000 wounded.

Maybe you should consider volunteering if they are such a threat. The Taliban are not terrorists other than their actions within their own country, they are not a threat to us just to their own people.

We will need to negotiate withdrawal with the Taliban at some point, they control half of the country and aren't going anywhere.

We left Viet Nam and now we trade and do business.

Not sure what Afghanistan has other then poppy fields as an export.

However put an American in a place to make money and you never know how it will work out.
