Yeah, because so many oil companies are hanging out in school classrooms.

Here's how it works, my friend. The majority of TEACHERS are DEMOCRATS and in UNIONS. Unions lobby Congress and get huge pensions to be loyal to Democrats. Democrats push climate change. AOC's own campaign manager said climate change was not about climate but about taking control of the economy.

Teachers teach liberal propaganda. And that includes fear mongering over climate change. THAT's how it works.

Some aspects of science have been manipulated for political gain.
And public opinion is being swayed by threats of fear rather than facts.

Kids are crying because they are being told that the world will end in 12 years because of climate change.
That's not teaching science. That is using fear as a powerful motivator to sway your opinion. They call that propaganda.

And if my kid hadn't come home and told me it herself, I wouldn't have believed they were saying it.

Keep calling the nonsense out. I would encourage kids to speak out in class as well. It will encourage other kids to think for themselves and see the propaganda for what it really is. Make it "cool" to speak the truth and show these propaganda artists masquerading as "educators" for what they really are. Most of these educators have been so dumbed-down through propaganda themselves they have no idea how indoctrinated they are.

I'm curious, are the students being taught the world will end in 12 years or there is a tipping point where action must be taken before it's too late, are they being sent home to scold and school parents on their behaviors?

Watched an episode of "the weekly" last night, this one was labeled "the hard left". What an informative and eye opening episode. They dove into exactly how the left is doing this and talked with several people from a collective called the Sunrise project. They showed examples on how to basically bully others with opposing views.

Did you actually watch the video you posted? It shows a very well-mannered young man explaining that he would like kids to know that "just because someone looks different from you, does not make them abnormal or a bad person". Can you honestly disagree with this? If you thought that this video supports your notion of indoctrination, you really have a screw loose.

Should be a parents choice. Who made you the great decider?

I can tell you're lying because it is just so preposterous. No one, not even the most ardent global warming alarmist, would say the world is ending in 12 years.

This has angered me for a long time! What is the benefit of scaring children into thinking they will have no future?! The "science" as it is taught.. is NEVER balanced or nuanced, it's all 100% left wing propaganda. There is never any mention of the skepticism that exists or the fact that the planet is greening, weather related disasters are down and by all measures, human society is doing the best that it has in history.

In other words.. at a time in human history which is arguably the BEST time to be alive (and getting better each year) we are teaching our children to live in fear of the future because left leaning "teachers" want to virtue signal their obedience to the cult that environmentalism has become. These poor kids are fed a steady, unrelenting diet of this crap throughout their indocrina..."education" and by the time they reach young adulthood, some of them decide not to have children because of the fear instilled in them. What a tragedy!
I can only imagine the anger and the heartbreak when these people gain some life experience in a couple of decades realize that that environmental alarmism and proclamations of impending doom is a constantly shifting timeline that is always just ahead of us and always moving. They will look back on the choices they made as result of this, the missed opportunities and realize they've wasted their lives on a lie.

I was born during the time of the first Earth day. I'm well aware that if my parents had taken heed of what was being said during that event.. how we'd all starve by the 1980s among other proclamations by "experts" I'd likely never have been conceived and many, many others of my generation as well.

Make no mistake. This IS a CULT. It's a cult that is dressed up in the trappings of science and it has hijacked the credibility and the implicit authority of science to brow beat any dissent into the ground.

The first clue? The so called "consensus"! You can't engage in a debate about climate change without hearing how 97% of scientists agree with... as Barack Obama put it.. "It's real, it's man made and it's dangerous"
First of all. Science has absolutely nothing to do with consensus, it has to with a hypothesis being validated by reproducible results. The inherent problem here is that nature is a huge, chaotic, random system where it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to adhere to laboratory conditions when testing this hypothesis. So, the solution seems to be computer models! Computer models that are so primitive in relation to the complexity of the environment that they can't even simulate cloud cover!!

"There are simply too many numbers for the computer to simulate it at a reasonable speed,” said Brad Marston, a Brown University physicist. “It might take years to simulate a day of the atmosphere, which wouldn’t be good.”
https://www.brown.edu/news/2016-06-03/marston

Then there is the problem with the consensus itself! Look at how it was generated and how the 97% number was arrived at! I'll let people look it up for themselves and reach their own conclusions. I was certainly surprised. It does not mean what most people THINK it means!

After that, we arrive at the problem of the science community itself. No, I do not think this is all some elaborate hoax to enact socialism but I DO believe that science, like any other human endevour is subject to bias, groupthink, greed and frankly hubris. The Climategate emails spelled that out in stunning detail.
We have a system where government funding drives the majority of research funding and that funding is all predicated on their being a crisis to address otherwise there is no further need for the funding. In that environment, what are the odds of truly objective and blind science with no regard to the outcome?
Peer Review? HAH! There was recently an experiment done where a number of nonsense studies were submitted and made it through the peer review process with no scrutiny. Again I would also return to the climategate emails to see further evidence of how it's been corrupted. (Google them!)

Do you still doubt it is a cult? Look at how the term "denier" is tossed around with the same religious zeal as the word "heretic" used to be used. There is no room for skepticism, no room for nuanced or diverse opinions only blind, unquestioning belief!

What do I believe?
I believe we absolutely do need clean energy and a clean environment. I'm skeptical of how big a role CO2 plays in this narrative that we are damaging the environment with it and we only have small window of opportunity(that is constantly shifting) to address it. Sorry! I've lived through too many "point's of no return" to buy that line of crap anymore.

I think the real tragedy (other than scaring children about their future) is that this movement has dominated so much of the discussion that so much GOOD could have been done with the BILLIONS we've squandered on more tree ring studies, ice core samples and fancy meetings at exotic resorts where the elite come to virtue signal their "concern".
We could have cleaner drinking water. We could address overfishing and the pollution of the oceans. We could have better forest management that leads to fewer wildfires. It's all being wasted on the alarmist gravy train and the net result of all of this....I can see this happening already.... is that the public is simply treating it like background noise. Except for the children! Who don't have the luxury of having lived through many such previous environmental fear mongering and thus legitimately fear for their future. That is the REAL tragedy and the alarmists who propagate this garbage at their expense ought to be ashamed of themselves!
