It shows.

I still don't know how he got the gun. Regardless, no amount of background check is going to stop a clean guy unless you want to ban it all. And that's not enough. Then you have to go around and confiscate every gun in circulation. Are you for it or just using the opportunity to bash Trump.

Funny, Nelson Mandella was celebrated as a Nationalist too and got a Nobel prize. What gives?

How long does it take to empty a magazine? Unless you're standing feet away, you can't stop him in time.

You missed something. He first has to present ID before picking up ammo.

One does not register by party in Texas.

Registered voters receive a card in the mail every two years. When we declare which primary we are voting in by walking into their room, they stamp our card. That means nothing.

For years when the Ds controlled Texas most all of the Republicans voted in the Democratic primary for the candidate the would the the easiest for the already known Republican to beat.

It was common and everybody did it.

Not sure where in God's name you got something about Trump from my statement(which you conveniently shortened). BTW I voted for him.

No one expects perfection by using a background check, but it has got to help a bit. Make people selling their guns vette the prospective buyer or mandate the sale has to be done through a dealer who gets a broker fee for setting up the background check.

I am all in favor of stop and frisk being returned and huge penalties for using a gun, real or otherwise, or intimating the use of a gun during robberies. You have to make the gun a hindrance to get criminals to go without it.

It would be interesting to know if any of the responders were ALERRT trained.....but, of course, such answers are not going to be in the public disclosure.

It's obvious that you have no idea of what you're talking about?

You don't have to go fill out a Federal Form 4473 and undergo a NICS background check to buy a car. You don't even need a drivers license to own a car. You don't have to register a car to own one either. You just can't legally use it on a public street.

It's also a federal crime to knowingly sell a firearm in a private sale to a prohibited possessor as described by federal law. Yet it is not illegal to sell a car to an individual who has a drunk driving conviction on their record. Or to someone who has a history of causing automobile accidents.
