Initial reports are not always correct.
I agree there. Ongoing and active situation they are saying. Yes heís 21. Canít imagine what drove him to this. I never had such thoughts.

Somehow for many -how to prevent mass shootings -is not as important as how can I weaponize this event to harm my political adversaries

Women sometimes are a little bit more familiar since we are taught to always be aware of our surroundings and to always be checking our environment.
I always make a mental note of the exits. Have for years.

I thought everybody did.

He is also a self-proclaimed gun nut. Has two gun safes and it is only because his wife put her foot down that he doesn't have three. I suspect he is carrying nearly all the time. He spends one night a week cleaning various guns and one weekend a month at a gun range.

He was in the military before deciding to be a high school teacher, and is clear that he would never pull out a gun during a mass shooting at his school, and thought it was a stupid idea to arm teachers.

In the first place, he should be focused on his students, getting them to safety.

Secondly, there is a world of difference between the gun range and a gun battle.

And third, he was as likely to get shot by the cops as not.

He had guns in case someone tried to attack him or his family. Other than that, he let the folks who were trained for the task handle matters.
There are quite a few people in this thread who don't seem to understand this notion, people like myself who carry concealed handguns aren't looking to be Rambo, to save the day or to save the lives of every person in WalMart. I carry a handgun to protect myself and my family, if the easiest way to get myself and my family to safety is to run then we're running. I'm not sticking around to shoot back at some active shooter if I can get to safety. Some people in here seem to be confused as to why concealed carry folks run from active shooters but in reality, people do what they think is best in the heat of the moment and that might very well be to just run.

I have no preference.

I flip channels to see if there is any difference in reports.

Seems much of the shooting occurred in the parking lot.

They just showed new video of people dead on the ground (or seriously wounded) all around the front of Walmart, by the front parking, by the front door, by the soda machine....

The French have greatly reduced mass shootings by shooting the criminals dead in the act
This has a big effect on wannabe shooters
Itís an old Texas approach to gun control- works well -but is out of fashion
