Fox has great coverage now. Lots of eyewitness interviews. Oddly the shooter was captured alive which is rare in these types of incidents.
ALL three cable news are covering it and interviewing people- sometimes the same people. They are also interviewing LE about their thoughts on what’s going on.
MSNBC announced the suspect is 21 years old.
Fox is reporting the shooter used a semi- automatic.
I attended a rock concert at a downtown venue a week ago and made a mental note of where the exits were in case of a terrorist attack while waiting for the group to perform. That scenario had never entered my mind before last week.

Some employers give this training. DH worked a couple years as an appraisal review board person in our county. All the employees in that building had the training.
The minute you enter, figure out the exits and/or where to take cover.

Had this very conversation with a long-time friend recently over the plan to arm school teachers.
He is also a self-proclaimed gun nut. Has two gun safes and it is only because his wife put her foot down that he doesn't have three. I suspect he is carrying nearly all the time. He spends one night a week cleaning various guns and one weekend a month at a gun range.
He was in the military before deciding to be a high school teacher, and is clear that he would never pull out a gun during a mass shooting at his school, and thought it was a stupid idea to arm teachers.
In the first place, he should be focused on his students, getting them to safety.
Secondly, there is a world of difference between the gun range and a gun battle.
And third, he was as likely to get shot by the cops as not.
He had guns in case someone tried to attack him or his family. Other than that, he let the folks who were trained for the task handle matters.
If everyone had a gun in the mall what would you expect other than more friendly fire shootings, how would anyone determine the shooter. This is Texas by the way, we will wait to see if there were concealed carry holders.
No one will ever know how many in the store and vicinity were armed.
Most of those who survived will never be identified, let alone searched.
We have a friend who carries everywhere. He usually has one of his units shirts or hats on all the time lol! If I'm out anywhere and saw someone like him, he would be the one I would want to be behind or around because he's a pretty damn good shot and he can take care of first aid too.
In the chaos that ensues an active shooter situation, you will not be running around looking for stranger with a rifle or gun. You don't know who nor how many are actively shooting. That's just poppycock... and fool hardy.
and the last thing I'd do is hide behind someone who isn't trained or disciplined when brandishing a firearm....
Texas is high on gun ownership and gun rights.
