Actually an excellent idea, would be good for both men and the city of Baltimore!

But local officials are never responsible for providing security for the President. And the type of security should be consistent across the country.

Are you saying the Secret Service aren't adequatel to provide the security needed? WOW -- didn't Trump go to Iraq -- that's scary.

It is a wonderful gesture.

Cummings response to Trump's temper tantrum tweet has been very mature, composed.

Trump should go to Baltimore - -if nothing to pretend he REALLY cares about all residents.

Hold a town hall type meeting with the residents in those 'infested' areas and see what they think the President, state and local officials could be doing to help those residents.

The Inner Harbor is/was nice, been there many times going back to the mid 80's but haven't been there for about 20 years so no idea how it is now. I know even back then you don't want to stray too far from it.... Last time I was there was a fourth of July. As we were trying to exit this multi floor parking lot a gang of hoodlums came walking through. Harassing people, lifting handles on doors to see if they were locked etc. It was the one time I was wishing I was armed because I was there with the GF and her very young daughter. That was the last time I visited Baltimore.

Accept the invitation and then tell the crowd to vote Cummings out and promise them more free stuff.

There is no upside to a Trump photo op in Baltimore with Cummings. The photo would be taken in the most beautiful part of the city which Trump called dump. A picture of Trump a man who couldn't even successfully run a family business without multiple failures for over 40 years, berating a man who he thinks should have turned a large city around in half as much time would be priceless.

After twenty plus years representing Maryland, watching it deteriorate as his bank account grew, Cummings wants a photo op. He will also beg for billions of dollars. If I were Trump I'd ask him what he did with the billions Obama gave him.

The President could insist on only visiting West Baltimore. He could get off at the West Baltimore Amtrak Station and then it is only seven blocks to here: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.2960...2!8i6656?hl=en That location, the Harlem Park neighborhood, is probably the most blighted in the city. The President could do a photo op and scathing speech that would further cement a negative image of Baltimore in the eyes of the nation and refuse to visit anywhere else in the city. Then he could hop back on a train. Alternately, his helicopter could land on the playing field at Harlem Square Park, right in the middle of a lot of blight. After the visit, his stump speech could include a line about how he had been to Baltimore and it was worse than even he had imagined.

I doubt if the Congressman would want to be a part of that show, but what could he do about it? the President could say that the Congressman snubbed him after inviting him to Baltimore if he refused to take part. The President is in complete control of the messaging here, and there is nothing anybody in Baltimore can do about it.
