Now you know why this shooting has dropped out of the News Cycle. The leftists are loath to actually admit it's their hateful rhetoric that is spurring on this kind of violence, IF you simply apply their standards.
I do not want to ban all firearms. But rather than argue that with you, lets address the issue that I raised. If we are to allow people to carry firearms wherever and whenever they want, that does increase the risk of harm to non armed people due to accidental discharge of a firearm if nothing else. So there's always been an implicit promise that the good guys would protect the unarmed. But now we are finding out that the advocates of open carry everywhere are saying "oh no..we only do this to protect our own family". Well, if that's the case then I see no benefit in allowing them to carry their guns everywhere they want.
That has NOTHING to do with your post, this is not about a gray middle ground or banning guns or arming everyone. It's about how useless this whole NRA meme of "good guy with a gun is" when it's obvious in this thread that the good guy's only goal is to protect himself.

In EVERY instance of a mass shooting, the bad guy is stopped by his own suicide (generally hastened along by the presence of good guys with guns), he is captured by good guys with guns, or he is killed by good guys with guns.
Your disdain for those who choose to carry arms for protection is very strange, considering how they end every single one of these situations.
Perhaps when the bullets start flying, holding hands and singing kumbaya would provide a more expeditious end to the problem at hand.

Regarding carrying weapons on private property, I assume that by private property you mean businesses. But the ability for a business owner to refuse to allow guns on their premises varies from one state to another. Some have no opt out provision so there is no legal guidance for a business to disallow weapons, others make the signs and rules that must be followed so onerous that it's nearly impossible for the business to comply with all of the rules.
There is no difference in the ability, only the mechanism by which it is accomplished. Businesses in every state absolutely have the right to disallow firearms in their businesses if they so choose.
