In the parlance of that day, a well-regulated militia = sober men of good character who would answer the call to country if required.

If you are going to discuss an issue, do at least SOME research BEFORE making a fool of yourself by your lack of knowledge on the subject.
The word militia is even latin for Soldier.

The 2nd says no such thing. Who is it that tells people this nutty stuff?

Again, the FF had no way of seeing how this amendment would be misused. It's time we made a correction to deal with the reality today.
You exaggerate a LOT. "how every mentally unbalanced individual having the "right" to own weapons" NO ONE say they SHOULD.

"of mass destruction" Do you have ANY IDEA what "weapons of MASS destruction are" ?

"Dictionary

weap·on of mass de·struc·tion

noun
plural noun: weapons of mass destruction

  1. a chemical, biological or radioactive weapon capable of causing widespread death and destruction.

But here we are.

It's time to consider amending the Constitution again.
The 2nd Amendment was envisioned to protect America from internal and external threats in order to preserve the Republic. The founding fathers never foreseen America becoming a dominant global power and hegemon.

So do you think this is the America the founding fathers envisioned? With mass shootings taking place on a regular basis? Do you think this was their intent with that amendment?

The "right of the people" means EVERY individual in both the 1st and 4th Ammendments. It was ruled upon by the Supreme Court as recently as 2002 (IIRC), that it is meant the same way for the 2nd Ammendment.

No they didn't. But the Constitution has an amendment process written right in it, so get on with it.
