Only a fool would confront a person armed with an assault weapon and wearing body armor. These shootings aren`t rare in this country but your concern for inner city blacks is indeed touching. If signs made a place a "gun free zone" there would be no need for metal detectors would there?

This rather reminds me of when I was in the service and one of my troopers was HIV positive. The word on the base was if the trooper went down, the others would not go help. I resolved myself that if in that situation, I would.........for what kind of officer would I be to not to go when one of my people was in need?
Charge someone as such over an open space, try to do a Rommel on them? Of course not.
But say an ambush around a corner and laying down HtH head hits till they are out of it or I'm dead? You better believe it.
Because, after all, no one lives forever.

There may be point to this.
When I worked the midshift, spent hours infront of the computer mostly cruising the Net, I posted a lot.
Now, I am on days and a team leader at that........I don't think I spend near the time commenting on the Net as I have before.

Then again my school didn't do much of anything. We had a junior trip, junior banquet, a homecoming football game, senior awards dinner and senior prom. I went stag to my prom. As I said though, I had friends from boy scouts. Hell, some of my closest friends were from those days, not school. I realize 17 is too late for that, but know school isnt the only thing for young adults to have active interests in.
To anyone on here with children or grandchildren in Scout ages, I would still look into the program. Many units allow girls now too.
We-ll......my high school years read like spy school.
I was learning how to fly a small plane. I was on JROTC rifle team and Rangers (mostly what we did was rappelling). I was taking French. I was doing judo. I was in Explorers.
The thing I wasn't doing was socializing. I didn't get my driver's license till 17. I got my pilot's license before that. I had no boyfriend. I didn't go to any prom (did go to military balls). My parents had to force me to go friend's parties.
So, go figure......

It happens all the time. It was a semi auto rifle, so facing that with a semi auto pistol, or revolver would be very effective. Would you rather he'd have used a bomb?
This is all about removing firearms from the law abiding using these anomalies as the excuse.
Complete background checks on all gun purchases and closing the backdoors in which guns can be transferred without a background check is supported by a majority of Americans. Such things help keep guns out of the hands of criminals and nut cases but don't affect law abiding people who want to buy/own guns.
The NRA fights the above because they are primarily a lobbying group for gun manufacturers. What you can do if you're an NRA member is demand that they back sensible gun legislation to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and nut cases.
Most of these shooters passed federally mandated background checks, and bought their guns legally.

Not a gun-owner, but we are in need of changing some of many laws on both the state- and federal-levels. Now how we make it so that those laws are not too vague or too specific is a valid concern.
Promote more states to allow legal carry for the law abiding. Encourage the law abiding to get their carry permits and carry a firearm. Get rid of gun free zones like the CA garlic festival and retail stores that ban guns. These shooting are RARE and overall very few people die each year from them. More people die by far from inner city black on black violence, but it seems black lives don't matter after all, because nobody tries to stop that.
Venezuela gave up their guns in 2011.. now they eat out of garbage dumpsters and drink polluted water . That is socialism.
