Judge tosses suit alleging Trump campaign conspired with Russia in DNC hack

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit alleging that President Donald Trump's campaign and former Trump adviser Roger Stone conspired with Russia and WikiLeaks to publish hacked Democratic National Committee emails during the 2016 presidential race.

...
Two DNC donors, Roy Cockrum and Eric Schoenberg, and former DNC staffer Scott Comer, filed the suit last year, alleging that the hacking invaded their privacy and that the Trump campaign and Stone had a role in unlawful activity.

Of course those who lost the case will take it elsewhere. This is what you do when you have no productive work in your life and spend other people's money. You can just go and do different lawsuits.

Then what? Well, there is a chance that may stay alive. Here's the plea deal.

US vs. Awan Plea Deal

Deep in the text, it mentions cases in DC - so this agreement is binding only in DC. In other words, Sessions may be clearing the case out of DC where they may not get a fair trial (the judge handling the case was an Obama appointee). A Federal prosecutor is able to bring a case against any US citizen anywhere in the US. So a federal prosecutor from another state may take this up.

Relevant text...

Your client further understands that this Agreement is binding only upon the Criminal and Superior Court Divisions of the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. This Agreement does not bind the Civil Division of this Office or any other United States Attorney's Office, nor does it bind any other state, local, or federal prosecutor. It also does not bar or compromise any civil, tax, or administrative claim pending or that may be made against our client.

I understand the strategy - I just hate enriching all of the lawyers involved.

That never made any sense anyway. Next they'll claim the Russians colluded with the sun to cause global warming or the Russians colluded with Osama Bin Laden on 9/11.
But I have heard that the Russians are behind the illegals pouring across our Mexico border....

I am reading of rumors that this will move away from the DC Swamp to either a Utah court, or possibly military court if national security is an issue.

Looks like the DNC lost again. Shockingly, CNN reported it!

"In sum, the DNC does not allege any facts to show plausibly that any of the defendants, other than the Russian Federation, had any role in hacking the DNC's computers or stealing its information -- it attributes that conduct only to the Russian federation. And the DNC does not dispute that the documents were of public importance. Therefore, the First Amendment protects the publication of those stolen documents," Koeltl wrote.

That judge was appointed by Bill Clinton.

Yep. One of many. These people are thoroughly untrustworthy human beings. They really are.
