This is not the first time the Post has called for such a ban. But it is still striking to see the message on the front page of the paper, where Trump is likely to see it. Trump grew up reading the paper in New York City and continues to receive copies in Washington.
"America is terrified," the editorial reads. "President Trump, you are positioned to assuage that fear. On gun control, you are a pragmatic centrist, someone who knows there is a vast majority of Americans who are not to the extreme left or right on this issue. They just want the killings to stop."
First , define assault weapon and not a single mass shooting has ever been done with a weapon that has been used in a war. All have been civilian firearms.
Okay. Point taken. Let's don't call them by the term the firearms writers coined in the 60s to describe them, "assault weapons".
Instead, let's call them "any and all semiautomatic firearms, and all other firearms using rimfire or centerfire cartridges with a magazine capacity of more than five rounds".

Orangeman Bad is the reason the El Paso shooter felt emboldened to kill non-white people. His constant racist and xenophobic remarks were taken as a call to arms.
