I'm hearing people suggest that we give up rights protected in our Bill of Rights in hopes that we might reduce mass killings.
If we are serious about things like people being killed and crime, shouldn't we get serious.
By instituting national curfews, setting up checkpoints and alliwing police to conduct searches without warrant or cause, we can reduce crime, reduce dwi deaths, reduce drug overdoses, reduce gang activity and make everyone safer.
Isn't some inconvenience worth saving thousands of lives and reducing crime?
If you're not doing anything wrong, it shouldn't be a big deal.
While neither of us would be for such measures, isn't funny how the hard left pushes XYZ which would in fact potentially lead to murder on a mass scale.

To bad that video did not show stats (as far back as America has been a country) for civilian mass shootings that resulted in X amount of innocent lives lost for comparison.
Needless to say the stats would be insignificant comparatively.
Don't get me wrong, as reducing innocent people getting killed should be a worthy goal. But the leftists do not want to involuntarily commit insane and mentally ill people. They do not want to restrict the violent video games our kids are now being brought up with, etc., etc., etc.
The OP points out a wide variety of ways of saving innocent lives, but most would be abhorrent to the left (and the rest of us for that matter). Yet they are all for trying to disarm the overwhelming majority of law abiding citizens.
One wonders if there is a long term goal in mind for those pulling the strings of the ignorant masses.
Cell phone use while driving kills almost as many.
Notice how aggressively they targeted that too though...they were very quick to enact laws against texting while driving, laws that really have bite, texting while driving is a priority stop now in my state (that means, they dont need any other reason to pull you over), thats HUGE!
Plus, there was no negativity from the cell phone industry as a result of these new laws, they just accepted that the laws were here and in place now, they didnt do anything to try to stop them or lessen the severity.
Where are the tough new laws on alcohol use, sales, etc? Do you think the alcohol industry would just accept new laws that resulted in less drinking? LOL

The innocent people need to be armed, and this crap will quit quickly.
MADD has been around for YEARS, but just 2 years ago, I lost 2 friends, a husband and wife that left behind 3 young children, due to a drunk driver!!
It time something is done about the easy access to booze today!
But even a conservative state like Oklahoma wants easier access to alcohol. So on Oct. 1, 2018 wine was allowed to be sold in drug, convenience and grocery stores for the first time. Also the 14 remaining counties that banned liquor by the drink had to repeal the law.

Surely the technology is available to disable the internet, ability to text or read texts while moving in a car.
And to sample air for alcohol before car can be started. Maybe it should be mandatory for all cars to renew regustration. And make it so it can't be defeated with someone else blowing in it.

Usually the public has NO say in the accessibility of dangerous drugs/substances!
When its that dangerous, the DEA, ATF, cracks down, and they have the final say! look at what they have done with opioid prescription drugs, thats a great example and opiates havent caused near the problems that alcohol has.
A couple other good examples are bath salts, and few years back, over the counter diet pills with Ephedrine, they were deemed to be dangerous and they were quickly removed from the counter, they RESTRICTED ACCESS, due to how deadly and dangerous they were...yet alcohol remains free and clear to anyone 21 and over???? how much sense does that make?
It is weird how selective people are about "protecting the innocent".
Over the years tens of thousands of innocent people have died at the hands of intoxicated people.
There aren't calls for banning alcohol.
I'm not certain how many don't because they want their alcohol or how many realized prohibition didn't work because people who choose not to obey laws won't follow those laws.
We have greatly increased DUI penalties and have seen auto deaths by DUI plummet in recent years. Sensible regulations do help.
The entire premise of your thread is just a big canard. You live in one of the safest big cities in the US and you feel the need to carry...makes no sense. Don't be so paranoid.
I live in your big bad neighbor to the north (LA) and have NEVER felt the need to carry a weapon.
