Maybe he could be appointed to a WH position with a focus on prison sentencing reform, limited to corrupt politicians.

We want leaders to admit to us mouth-to-mouth, face-to face that they are as corrupt as any other human being, and then get on with providing infrastructure so that we have water, food, shelter, fuel, electricity, antibiotics, and the other necessities of a comfortable convenient life, after which we all simply mind our own effing business.

What we don't want is impossible promises of shangri la, because it doesn't work that way.

Greasing the wheels does.
Trump hasn't provided any infrastructure spending.... In fact, it's slowed to a trickle despite how many "Infrastructure Weeks" Trump has held.

Trump is the compassionate one. Although there was that time he tried to steal his father's money while old Fred Trump lay dying in bed.

All this furor could have been avoided had Fred Trump simply spanked Donny. He didn’t and on his death bed he discovered that son Donny was working overtime to wrest control of his Father’s empire away from him. I wonder if all those Apprentice fans will suffer the same fate.
What Fred Trump never did ? Spank Donald

IMO they didn't want to keep shining a light on the unpleasant truth of false claims and accusations.

In short, keeping it in the news gave a lot of ammo to Trump and his supporters. The media in particular fell all over themselves on this story and came out looking bad too.

So we don't know whom, but some people further up the food chain made the call to have the prosecutor make it go away.

We can also bet that any such requests were made to her in person, there will be no smoking email or recording so at this point the prosecutor is swingin' in the wind as if she points a finger they just deny. She's going to have to take the heat on this one and hope she gets rewarded with a nice lawfirm job down the road or other political reward.

Other than the prosecutor, there will be no other fallout here. Heck, look at the Laquan McDonald fallout...everyone involved in the cover-up walked away clear. Trigger-man almost did too.
