It's a very predictable and I'd even argue logical response. People are assuming the government is fixing to ban or heavily restrict sales of semi-automatic weapons...a not totally irrational suspicion to have. They want to get them before they aren't easy to get any longer.

No we do not have universal background checks and if your definition of an assault weapon doesn't include an AR-15 that can unload a clip in seconds then you need to revise your definition. Please spare me the semantics, if a any gun can kill that many people within a seconds its an assault weapon.

Like I stated, spare me the sematic arguments. I called them a clip in Vietnam and you know perfectly well what that means but want to argue definitions to make believe you are oh just so knowledgeable. Anything else to offer??

I did 2 TOURS in NAM AND never HEARD "CLIP" used instead of magazine when talking about the M-16.
If the AR15 was an assault rifle, why doesnt the US give crates of these to other countries or rebel factions they are helping? Even when the US provided the mexican cartels with weapons in operation fast and furious, it WAS NOT crates of AR15s...its was actually AK47s (the standard when it comes to real assault rifles).

I can tell you right away what will happen if all those measures would be implemented.
Mass shooters will just switch to become mass bombers. I can name you at least 5 ways of making explosives from common household goods. Also, for example, I know chemistry pretty well to create even more explosives with just bare minimum of off-the-shelf school chem equipment; I'm pretty sure that if a psycho is dedicated, he can do that too, and quite easily - it's pretty simple, really. And he then will just blow up whatever he will want. Some can go as far as make simplest grenades. The end result would be the same or worse.
And if you would be able to combat that, then they will switch to mass poisoners.
Guns don't kill people. People do.

it has nothing to do with you calling a mag a clip....any firearm can empty itself in seconds. There is nothing special , nothing supernatural , about an AR15, it is just another semi auto rifle.
