Norway is increasingly seen as the envy of the world. It is FIRST place in the world happiness index. It is #5 in median income (U.S. is behind at #8). It has a debt-to-GDP ratio of -90.5 percent. In other words it has a national surplus, not a national debt.
Norway has obviously made a lot of good decisions. Now they are making another good decision by banning the sale of fossil-fuel-powered vehicles by 2025. Not the 2030 plan of Gov. Jay Inslee, which was seen as way too ambitious and radical but 2025.
Can someone please explain to me why we are not following Norway's lead????
We are not following Norway's lead, first of all because we are the United States of America, and we REFUSE to FOLLOW any other country's lead no matter how much sense their lead makes, nor how much validity there is to their claim.
Secondly, we currently have a President who cannot differentiate the pollution margins of coal vs natural gas. Never mind the fact that Our existing President is seemingly possessed by an overt mission to undermine and overturn anything and everything accomplished by Our 44th President, regardless of how well and rightly purposed it was. It begs to ask, how informed might our existing POTUS be regarding the cost of processing coal and its inherent contribution to airborne pollutants?
I've worked in power generation for 34 consecutive years. I've combusted everything from gaseous, liquid, and solid fuels, including coal and Municipal Solid Waste. By far, the most process intensive and dirtiest fuel I've ever dealt with was coal (be it bituminous or sub-bituminous). This is one line of fuel Planet Earth is better off without especially when natural gas supplies are cheap and abundant. Anyone arguing against the obvious and confirmed has willingly buried their head in the sand, POTUS included.
It's ironic that so many on the Left want us to be more like the Scandinavian countries, which are overwhelmingly White.
Race has nothing to do with it. Their quality of life is head and shoulders above ours, because their government actually takes care of the populace rather than just paying lip service and claiming they do. That's the difference between May 17 (Constitution Day) over there and July 4 over here - Norwegians actually have a real reason to celebrate. They're in a place where the US could be but isn't and probably never will be.

Race and culture (as well as a giant ocean of oil) has everything to do with it. Yes their QOL is high thanks to polluting the planet with their huge oil revenues....if they really want to make a statement, **** down their oil fields now.
This attitude is why the US will never be #1 in quality of life or standard of living. The "hooray for me, to hell with you" mindset never built a successful society.

What make you think we care about that? We just want our freedom.
