I don't know. I think 1992 was the greatest year of my life. My morality was pretty loose then though. Probably part of what made it so great.

If I had to pick just one year, I would say 1968, when it was apparently okay to many people for cops to beat up protesters.

I am a definite supporter of the many people who have joined the police force because they wanted to make the world a better place, but I do NOT support uniformed bullies -- or ANY kind of bullies. To be clear, I think the great majority of policemen and policewomen are decent, good people, but I will readily admit that there are also many who are not.

There must have been some right-wing pundit talking about it earlier today on a talk radio show or Fox.

After making great leaps toward harmony, The Great Society and the free love movement, set US society on a path to regression......

It was such a great idea.

What year?
Probably in the late 1700's when slavery was not tackled and a number of rebellions against taxation occurred.

Who knows. Was Elvis Presley's swivelling hips the start of the decline? How about Woodstock? Maybe when the internet was created by Al Gore . Maybe when George Washington became the first POTUS beginning the downward spiral of government and politics in this country. Maybe when Christopher Columbus bought a new "race" to America beginning the pushout of the indigenous creating a western civilization of sin.

I think with the advancement of the internet and the speed that information and images can spread, that has accelerated the decline noticeably.
It's not just the speed. It it the anonymity. If every single statement you made on the Internet had to have your photo ID and address, the "rate of decay" would surely be less. But let's be clear here, we are talking about the spread of hate, intolerance and bigotry.
