If you consider SJWs, AOC, Sanders, etc as "extreme left" what exactly do you think Trotsky, Lenin, Mao, Marxism, etc are?

few more

Extreme Left"
Wanting 90% tax rates on the highest earners
Wanting to shut down all forms or private insurance
wanting little to no military or defense

Extreme Right:
Privatizing everything Including roads
Not wanting things like Food and Drug Administration.
Wanting to expand the military
Mandatory Christianity in schools and Public settings

Both:

Wanting to limit the viewpoint of the other. I've seen both cases where they cry they are harassed and limited on social media and limited because either named entity is too corporate or too liberal..

Mad at their own party for being not enough whatever.. But always voting for it come General Election time

EXTREME LEFT

Government-run health care/Medicare for All/Abolishing Private Insurance
Repealing the 2nd amendment
$15 minimum wage
Unrestricted abortion
Slavery reparations
Amnesty for Illegals

Hating Law Enforcement / believing a cop is NEVER justified in shooting a black person (not even when he reaches for his gun like Alton Sterling or attacks the cop like Mike Brown)

Open Borders
Supporting Palestinians over Israel

Plastic bag and plastic straw bans / plastic bag taxes
Green New Deal / "Carbon neutrality" / Agenda 21
Banning American Indian mascots
Banning the American flag
Banning the Confederate flag/removing Confederate monuments

EXTREME RIGHT
Dry counties/parishes
Banning casinos, lotteries and bingo halls
Banning strip clubs
Keeping even medical marijuana illegal (I disagree with recreational but am ok with medical)

I consider true racist views like supporting slavery or Jim Crow or making interracial marriage illegal or a blanket ban on certain races coming here (The travel was was NOT this) to be outside the normal political spectrum.

Extreme left and extreme right are when neither party can negotiate w/ each other to a successful conclusion/outcome for something both parties know will help the mass populations. Make concessions, yield to each other and work together. Nothing will be okay w/ everyone, but take the pulse of the people, your constituents and then get together and come up w/ some solutions. Pollyanna thinking I know.

I guess you are responding to those who called "no gun control of any kind" an extreme right position. Not the same as defending the 2nd amendment. We could have some form of gun control without violating the constitution. For example, waiting periods and background checks are not unconstitutional. Requiring registration also. Felons already have constitutional rights, such as the right to vote, suspended, so why not gun rights?

Registration violates the 4th as well as the 2nd. Felons also already have their right to own a firearm revoked, which should be changed. If we trust them to rejoin society, they should have all rights restored the minute they are off parole.

I would tend to agree with the OP. Those types of views it what I'd call more on the extreme side.

The notion that the constitution can be completely understood by simply "reading" it "as it is written," with no need to interpret it or understand context, is an extreme right view.

Anyone know what the Overton window is?

I never liked the term "extreme", used as a negative. If you have any principles at all, you'll be an extremist in some way or another. If I was part of a political movement to legalize rape, my tactic would be to demonize anyone who took an "absolutist" stance on the topic.

"We aren't extremists who believe ALL rape is wrong. The truth is somewhere in the middle. Like anything in life, there needs to be a balance. The extreme rapists want all rape legalized, and the extreme consentists (did I just coin that term?) want all rape to be illegal...don't let them hijack our democracy...all of the reasonable, moderate people are being pushed to the fringes. We need common sense laws on rape, that balance the rights of the individual with the needs of society."

I feel like a dirty politician now... except they'd probably come up with some new term for rape. "Anti-discriminatory sexual relationship"...can't have people discriminating against others based on their attractiveness, now can we? It's not their fault that no one wants to sleep with them.
